Snacks for hospital bag?
What are some good snacks to pack in the hospital bag (for DH)? I plan to keep my hospital bag in my trunk starting around 30 weeks, so I need stuff that wont melt in heat. I know DH will want munchies especially if I'm induced again and it takes a while. Last time with DS I labored all night long into the morning and the cafe was closed, so I want to make sure I bring enough that he's not starving.

F him. You can't eat so why should he. Haha. Jk. Kinda.
I brought change for the vending machines. Chips. Etc. going to be a little harder since you're keeping stuff in your trunk and it can't melt.

Re: Snacks for hospital bag?
I packed granola bars, crackers, pretzels- those little "to go" cups are good and Christmas Tree Store has them cheap. I got some of those as well since I had already been there getting toiletries.
To be honest though, we didn't really eat them. My labor was super quick and DH had the tact to not eat in front of me, so he ran downstairs and got a slice of pizza at lunchtime while I ate broth and apple juice. That was the only meal we missed. We had breakfast together and Shake Shack for dinner.
Plus, our hospital (NYU Langone) had really good food in the rooms and a great cafeteria downstairs. A lot of people brought snacks and treats, too.

I had 65 hour and 83 hour labors. DH managed on his own while the cafe was open and at night, well he slept lol. I would have been pissed if he ate anything in the room.

Normally I agree, but DH has a weak stomach and if he doesnt eat when he needs to he gets all sorts of messed up. I'd rather have him on his A-Game when I need him than have him sitting in a chair b!tching that he doesnt feel well because he hasnt eaten while I'm practically dying trying to push a baby out So, I figure it cant hurt to throw some snackies into my bag

I was induced and labored all night. I didn't even think to bring anything for DH. Maybe he hit up a snack machine? I don't even remember. But those small packs of cheese its that PP posted sound like a good idea.

DH was responsible for his own overnight bag lololol. Clearly, I'm a bad wifey. I think he brought pretzels, protein bars and powder to make shakes, and maybe nuts??? He grabbed a hero before my induction and ate that at the hospital. I do remember that!

Snacks for hospital bag?
I put a bunch of stuff in my bag for DH and for me (post delivery). I have a few larabars, bags of chips/pretzels and almonds. Nothing crazy but a few snacks if either of us get hungry while I'm in the hospital.
Otherwise, DH can hit the snack bar. :)

Omg- you brave woman I give you all the credit in the world! How did you go 83 hours without eating? I would have eaten my own foot! I have no strength to move if I don't eat after 2 hours I feel like I'm going to pass out! Omg I'm in shock right now lol

Stonybrook now allows clear foods to be eaten so luckily I got to have a small ice every like 6-8 hours or so. I did go about 36 hours straight with only ice chips with my first. That was hell.

My induction wasn't as long as Elizarags but it was still long (about 30 hours). I was only allowed ice chips and I remember my sweetheart of a nurse sent over a turkey sandwich right after I gave birth. Needless to say I inhaled it!

I don't remember DH eating anything- though I was only in labor for a few hours. I'm pretty sure food was the last thing on his mind!
I do remember we were both able to order dinner at NSUH that night.

Re: Snacks for hospital bag?
We packed nothing. My DH loved Au Bon Pain. He actually wanted to go back to north shore for the Au Bon pain for months after I was released.

Re: Snacks for hospital bag?
With this heat, melting or not, I would not eat food or want my hubby to eat food, that has been sitting in a trunk, getting heated up every day for possibly weeks. Just pack money for vending machines.
