Another registry question
We registered for a car seat and my mil bought it. Invites haven't even gone out for the shower yet. Do you think it would be wrong to register for another one for DH car?

Re: Another registry question
Is it an infant bucket seat, or convertible seat? You won't need a second bucket seat but you'll likely want a second base for DH car. If it's a convertible seat, having two will likely be extremely helpful!

Re: Another registry question
I'd hold off on buying convertible seats right now, unless you plan on putting your newborn in it (which is fine). You likely won't use the convertible until the baby is 9-12 months old, which means it'll be sitting and taking up space for at least a year. Plus, you want to buy the latest model and having the latest possible expiration date. They're always coming out with newer ones, so IMO, it's worth waiting and just getting other gifts that you'll actually need when the baby is first born.

Re: Another registry question
I would register for a second BASE for the car seat. The seat tends to travel with baby. So having the base in your DH car already would be helpful.
If you have the space to store it I would also register for the convertible car seat for when your DC gets slightly bigger and out of infant carrier.

Re: Another registry question
Why wouldn't I need a 2nd convertible seat? I already have the infant seat and the 2nd base for DH car but once the baby outgrows the infant seat won't I still need a 2nd car seat?

You'll definitely need a second one. The reason NOT to register for one now is because then it won't expire as soon (you'll probably get a whole extra year out of it, if you buy it at 10+ months). Also, they frequently update them. The newer models usually have nicer features.

Another registry question
I registered for 2 bases and 1 infant carrier. Then 2 convertable car seats for each car.

I agree with this whole sentiment because I am now at a point where all of my car seats are "expiring" . Like NYCgirl said, they sat in the box a good 16 months after I got them at my shower and that took off so much time from their unexpired use. This whole concept irritates me. It takes 28 years for a poland spring bottle to disintegrate in a land fill but 5 from the date of manufacture for this hard plastic to break down? I'm calling marketing b.s.
BUT, I digress...what I would say to do...and this is a total PITA, but I would register for them and then return them and keep the credit handy for when you need them. At $200-$300 a pop, those are nice gifts to get so you don't have to lay out all that money.

Another registry question
Personally I would skip the second car seat all together. My son will be 5 in September and it has never been an issue for us. The 2 times that we have needed a car seat in my husbands car it was for an extended period and we just switched them out. For us, it is too much money to pay for the second car seat and never use it. We never used the infant base either.

We use both cars interchangeably a lot. Also I'll be dropping off to daycare and he'll be doing pick up due to our work schedules. I think I'll register for the second one and I have up until a year to return. If someone buys it great if not well wait until the baby is older and buy it once she outgrows the infant seat.

I'd register for it, why not? You can always return it and get a credit if you decide you don't want to store two. They arent cheap, it's a nice gift to get.
