I have a 7 year old son from a previous marriage and am due in 2 months with my second. Not how I had originally planned it at all - I always thought my kids would be close in age, but that's not how it worked out. They will be just over 7 years apart. I was a bit worried about it, but my Ex had a baby with his new wife about 6 months ago and I have been absolutely shocked at how AMAZING my son has been with his new baby sister. He adores her, he's so helpful, and he's a true "big brother" to her. It's really making me look forward to how he'll be with our baby. So, from my limited experience so far, I say dont worry about the age gap! I think it will actually be a good thing.

My children are seven years apart-not the way we planned it, but it took us a long time to have a second. They are so close! I was a little worried and now I am so happy it worked out this way. I am also the youngest of four girls, and my sisters are 6, 8, and 12 years older than me. I was the "pleasant surprise" as my mom liked to say! lol I was always very close with my sisters and I am still close to them now. I don't the the age difference makes a difference, its the relationships that you help your children foster.
