Zika is in the US

There was a baby born recently in NJ. It's been here. It's just now spreading.

There was a baby born recently in NJ. It's been here. It's just now spreading.
This woman came from (and lived in) Honduras. The new cases are from people that did not travel but were bitten by mosquitos here in the US.

I am going to go out and buy maternity pants for the summer (been wearing regular shorts). I have no plans to douse myself in bug spray, that equally worries me when you consider our risk here (still low, despite the Miami situation).

You can spray your clothes with bug spray and let it dry before getting dressed- it greatly reduces skin absorption and still keep the bugs away--this is the recommendation my daughter's pediatrician gave us when traveling- it worked well.

There's so much misinformation about Zika.
The latest cases in FL are the FIRST cases regarding someone contracting Zika HERE in the US, through mosquito bites. Specifically around 1 area (Winwood), all 14 cases have been linked back to that 1 area.
That specific mosquito does NOT travel this far north. They are concerned/taking precautions about it's "cousin" that is native to our area.
Zika, although dangerous for pregnant women, typically isn't that big of a deal for the avg. healthy person. It's not forever. Dr.'s and CDC are recommending to use protection and IF your spouse/bf/whomenever has the disease, just wait to  until it's out of their system.

Yes. But a lot of people don't realize it can live in a man's system for many months.
