black nail polish
i just got back from a pedicure and got my toes polished black.
we are now having a giant debate in the office about it.
i think its very SUPAFLY ROCKSTAR and other people think its gross.
whats your opinion??

I love Chanel Vamp--deep, dark burgundy...but I'm out on the black.
Also, you can use any black. I don't get why people "must have" Chanel Black Satin. Black is black, right?

I do the very dark red/brown and I LOVE it, although it doesn't last on me....I am in a wedding this weekend and I am going to get my nails painted this color..the question is WHEN since they seem to chip after just the first day.

wicked looks great on the fingers too!! its my favorite with a fresh manicure! but it does sux when it chips - even the littlest flaw is so noticeable.

LOVE.. got it for pedicure and manicure a few weeks ago... dyed my nails and left them with a greyish tone.. but I loved it while I had it.

it might be if you painted maybe only 3 fingers on a hand and it was all chipped

I am pretty sure that black nailpolish is not the kind of fashion statement you want to make as you enter a boardroom meeting. So yes, it does look unprofessional. I am referring to BLACK nailpolish, of course, not a dark burgundy.
The funny thing is, I could totally pull it becaseu even though I work in a corporate environment, I am a graphic designer and people would.. well, understand!

i agree...
unprofessional...OMG...
But anyway...i went everywhere looking for the Chanel Slack Satin but it was all out...
I would like to have seen why this was such a BIG THING..
I personally don't think i could pull of black..
So i like the deep browns and reds like the other ladies said
Vamp and Chocolate Cherry and Wicked and what nots...are the colors i like for the fall and winter
none of which are unprofessional either
I actually got compliments on it from my boss the other day

I think that all depends on what you do for a living.
For example, many people still associate black nail polish with a "goth" theme. I don't think some of the parents of my 7th graders would appreciate me wearing it on open-school night.

I love Wicked, but for work on my nails I put a coat of either Scarlet O'Hara or something alittle more red on top to tone it down a bit, but it is still dark, but not so Goth. But my toes are always Wicked.

Well, corporate America is a very conservative place, don't you think? It certainly holds on to a lot of outdated ideas to this day...
However i do agree with a poster who said it all depends on what you do for a living. Like I said, I i showed up with black nails for work tomorrow it wouldn't be a big deal at all.
If our SVP of HR spoted the black polish goth look on the next board meeting she would definitely get funny looks.
