Separate lunch bag for snack time
My sons teacher asked that we send snack in a separate bag. I'd like to get a small insulated bag because he likes to take yogurts, cheese, hummus somi'd like to get something insulated that I can put a small ice pack in. Any suggestions? TIA!

Re: Separate lunch bag for snack time
That's smart. I just put his snack in his lunch bag with his lunch, and I usually throw a ice pack in there

This is what I have been doing. It's what the teacher suggested. I have my DD bring the brown paper bag back home and I resuse it for a couple more days. I'ts just a little wrinkled, but still usable!

Re: Separate lunch bag for snack time
After my creative kid ate his lunch for snack & didn't have lunch (a WHOLE sandwich), snack had become a ziplock bag in the backpack clearly labeled & filled w carb of the day. I find it a great success if he eats hummus or yogurt for lunch or dinner.

As the OP asked, I am pretty sure this is not allowed. In our case, it's not allowed. That's common sense, and what I had been doing, since the ice pack is in there. But our teacher (like the OP as well I think) does not want snack kept in the lunch box. I assume it's easier for it to be separate than for kids to shuffle through the lunch box and maybe eat too many things, waste time, etc. That's why I also was trying to figure out a way to send in a perishable snack without having to use another lunch bag/ice pack that was too large. So I have just been sending dry carby snacks, since it's just too hot to send in cheese or fruit. My DD would never eat warm fruit.

Separate lunch bag for snack time
I just put that snack in the second compartment of his lunch box and he knows to save it. I know the teacher wants another bag for snack but I'm drawing the line, lol! I don't need another bag to keep track of.

This exactly! Of course she's not forcing us to buy a separate lunch bag, but she highly recommends it and it makes sense. The past 2 days I sent snack in brown paper bags because they had dry snacks. Today they are buying their lunch since they've been begging me so I am sending their snack in their regular lunch bag. But I'd definitely like to get a small separate bag so they can have yogurts, hummus and carrots, fruits.
Thanks for the suggestions ladies! I'm going to hit target this weekend!
