Protein very high in 24-hr urine
I'm so disappointed. I had Pre-eclampsia with my first, which went undetected for FAR too long and I ended up being induced at 39 weeks due to extreme high BP.
When I got pregnant this time, they took no chances. I started seeing a high risk doctor as soon as I hit my 2nd trimester. They had me do a 24-hour urine test in my 2nd trimester to create a baseline and to see if my protein levels were rising. At that time, my protein levels were within the normal range. I took another 24-hour urine test earlier this week and the results just came back. They are more than DOUBLE what they should be. Other than Pre-E, I know this can also mean there is a UTI present, but I was actually just tested for that a week ago in the office and the results were negative. So, it looks like it's the start of pre-e again I'm so upset because they warned DH and I from the beginning of this pregnancy that if they started seeing signs of Pre-E again this time, they would be inducing at 37 weeks. Now, as much as I would LOVE to get this little one out early because I'm so NOT enjoying this pregnancy, I'm also worried about an induction at 37 weeks if my body isnt showing any signs of being "ready" (i.e.- dilating or effacing). My BP has been okay so far...it's slowly rising but still within a normal range. But I know as soon as it starts to spike, that's it...they're going to want to induce. And I do agree that if it spikes we need to get her out.
I guess I'm just nervous because it's sooner than I anticipated and I'm sad because up until now I really thought I was going to escape it this time. I haven't had as many symptoms or nearly the severity of symptoms that I had with DS. I was just shocked at the results of the test.

Sorry to hear that! Praying baby can stay in there as long as possible. There's nothing you can do to prevent it so just take it one step at a time. All will be fine.

Sorry to hear this. Is it possible you're not eating enough or not enough carbs?

Ugh that stinks but to help ease your mind about a possible early induction...
I was only 1 cm when I got induced at 40w2d. Induction was only 8.5 hours, start to finish. Pushed 3 or 4 times and she was out! No epidural...not sure if that prevented a slow labor or not. I hear mixed beliefs on that.

Ugh I'm sure it's stressful and I hope you can get it under control so baby can cook a bit longer. I was also induced at 40w3d and had a great experience. I DID opt for the epidural, but not until I hit about 7/8 CM dilated. It did not slow down labor at all. In fact, the nurses urged me to rest after the epidural kicked in and as soon as I laid down for a nap, the baby's heart rate dropped. Apparently, I dilated and she dropped so quickly that it casued the heart rate to drop. As soon as the epidural actually kicked in, it was time to push. Induction was 6 hours start to finish and it was so much better than I thought it would be. I was 2 CM dilated when I went in and 100% effaced.

I'm definitely eating enough carbs I'm probably over-eating my fair share of carbs lately
Is protein in the urine a symptom of not eating enough?

Re: Protein very high in 24-hr urine
Idk if it affects the what they look at in the 24 hr thing, but not getting enough carbs can give a positive result on the ketone dipstick. I just remember from my 1st when I had GD that I had to eat less carbs, but still enough not to get ketones. : )
