Grids or no grids in new windows

I am doing half of my house with new windows and probably the rest next year. Not sure what to do about adding grids or not. What are most doing?

Grids or no grids in new windows

I did no grids and no window sills either. I like the look of no grids and it's one less thing for me to clean/dust. Same for the window sills.

Re: Grids or no grids in new windows

It really depends on what you like

I like grids (but the ones inside the panes so there isn't any dusting ) because I like the more traditional /country/cottage look and feel. I current dont have them bc our windows are pretty new and don't feel the need to replace.

We have grids in the windows in the front of our house (they were like that when we bought). I really like them. The grids are in between the panes so there's no difference in cleaning the windows.

We have grids, though we have two large picture windows with a window on each side that can be opened. I wanted an unobstructed view from those windows so the main center part has no grids but the side windows do. I love the look of grids throughout but we have such a great view from both windows and I didn't want the grids in the way.

it's just a preference. We have the grills between the glass - no additional cleaning.
I like the look better

It really depends on the style of your house and what look you're going for.

It is kind of an ironic thing. The grids were needed for windows originally to make a large window out of small panes as making large sheets was costly or impossible. I'm sure people at the time would have much preferred to have 1 big grid-less window. Now we're putting non functional obstructions in our windows.

not criticizing, we did grids all around on our house and in between the glass.

Ours are gridless Pella windows, brand new when we bought the house.

Grids or no grids in new windows

i have a "country chic" theme to my house so i love grids. i just got a 6' slider and got grids on it. I also just bought a 10' picture window for the front of my house...the 2 windows on the side will have grids on the top panel but no grids in the center.

I don't have grids; but I do think they are pretty.
I feel they give more character.

We have the six over one (inside panes). Kind of the best of both worlds.
