Another cast iron question
I just fried some eggs on my cast iron pan, and I noticed there were some black speckles on them, what is that???? After I used the pan, I wiped it with a paper towel and there was absolutely no black speckles on it?!?

Re: Another cast iron question
It's possible you didn't clean the pan well enough and it's "seasoning" or leftover burnt bits from a previous meal flecking off.
I scrub my cast iron with a bristle brush that I bought from Lodge specifically for cast iron pans and lots of kosher salt. After I scrub it clean I rinse, dry right away, and then rub in a fresh coat of oil. I've never had an issue with black flecking. I'm sure what you're seeing is harmless but maybe try giving the pan a better scrub and see if it helps in the future.

Another cast iron question
Wouldn't the salt damage the seasoning though?

It doesn't. They always recommend salt to clean it, I've never had any issues with it ruining the seasoning and nothing sticks to my cast iron.
