40 weeks and discharge?

I'm 40 weeks and 4 days. I got up to use bathroom early this morning and when I went to lay back down there was a gush of fluid. It was not urine. It had no smell and it was clear. I called to Dr and they said to put a pad on and check if it still leaked after 2 hrs. Sure enough the pad was filled and this time it had a pinkish tint. They had me go to the hospital to be checked. My Dr said my cervix is still closed and that it was not amniotic fluid. She did an ultrasound and there was still plenty of fluid around the baby.

Since I've been home and I've wiped there has been some pinkish but no major discharge. I just took a shower and just after putting on clean pants I had another gush like I had this morning. There was no sign of blood. At this point I don't know what to do. I have an appt tomorrow for a biophysical so they will check to see about the amniotic. Has anyone else had a similar experience with discharge?
I haven't been having contractions either.

It really sounds like amniotic fluid. Maybe you have a slow leak. Mine was clear, next to odorless, but was gushing. It was clear at first, then started mixing with some blood so it was pinkish. But there are ways they test the fluid, so I assume they did(?).

Did they explain what the fluid is then?

You should be fine. Just monitor for contractions, which could even seem just like back pain, and for more fluid or mucous discharge. If in doubt, I'd just go to the hospital to be rechecked.

They did a swab and they said it definitely was not amniotic fluid but they had no idea what else it could be. I haven't had any more gushes through the night so I'm just going to see what they say when I go in for my appt today.

i had the same thing happen to me, but ended up being induced a couple of days later. When they broke my water at the hospital, it was a huge gush and way more than at home. You will know if your water broke. My entire hospital bed was soaked and I went through 3 giant bed pads until it slowed down

No not mucuous. I know it's usually a huge gush however I have heard from a few people it's possible to be leaking some amniotic fluid depending on where the sac broke. One lady had it trickle for several hours.

When I was spotting, that was the beginning of labor for me.

I had a few small gushes at home .. which turned pink .. which then turned bright red. Water broke completely while they were doing the swab test. Hopefully this is the start of labor for you! GL!

I had a gush at home and it was my water that broke and I wasn't dilated at all. So just FYI you don't need to be dilated to have water break. Good luck!

I went to the hospital last week for the same thing and they told me it was leukereah (I know I spelt that wrong). It's this weird discharge that some women get in the 3rd trimester. I didn't have it with my 1st. My underwear feels like my water broke but they said my water is still in tack and plenty of fluid around the baby.
