sauteing onions then freezing them yay or nay
I wanted to cook and store items while I still have a full size kitchen before I move.
If I cook items like onions so I have for soups etc then freeze, A) is that doable B) will it make become very watery when I go to use them

I don't think onions would defrost well.

I'd say it's worth a try. If it's not great, it's not like you're throwing a ton of money away. Onions ate cheap lol. You can buy raw onions frozen so at the very least that should be fine.

Yeah, I think that would be better than pre-cooking them.

I do this all the time. Learned it from a cooking show. Chop then freeze. THey are perfect when you go to use them. I would not sauté then freeze.

you can also make caramelized onions in the crock pot. they freeze well. basically just cut up a bunch of onions and cook them for a long time in the crock. there are lots of instructions online.

TY, just trying to cut down on cooking since I am leaving a full size house/kitchen moving to an apt. :( little to no work area. This might be the best option

They defrosted great. In the crock pot, there was a lot of liquid which I also put in a container and used in cooking.
I saw below you are moving from a full house sized kitchen to an apartment... if you have the space for it, I'd really recommend a crock pot. Using it usually doesn't involve a lot of pots and pans to wash, and since you cook larger batches of stuff in it you have less cooking mess overall.
