Ureaplasma
This is a new term to me...
Last week I went for a few bacteria cultures...they tested me for chylmadia (sp?), gonorrhea (sp), microplasma and ureaplasma. I've never heard of the latter two...
And, got the phone call yesterday that I tested positive for ureaplasma...and now they're putting me and DH on an antibiotic.
Supposedly ureaplasma could affect sperm motility...which DH's last semen analysis showed was not good...
Has anyone else had this test and do you have it?

never heard of it. But I just went to the MD today for a UTI. I'll have to ask her tomorrow.

hmmm Jen. I don't think I've ever heard of this. Did you research online? Both you and DH need to be on the antibiotic? Does the antibiotic do anything to his sperm count?

Its one of the things the dr I am seeing now treats
What abx did your dr put you guys on?

I never heard of it either but that would be great if you just need to take some antibiotics! Good luck!

We had that issue. We were both on Doxycyline (sp?) for a week.
Seems it's a bacterial infection that can easily be passed back and forth through intercourse.
So you could have it, get over it and DH could give it right back to you. That's why they put you both on the antibiotics for the same length of time.
The doxy makes you kind of nauseous, but other than that, no real issues.
We did the treatment and they tested again at 3 and 6 months later and we were "clean".
