what would you expect to pay?

We brought our 10 year old, 20 lb dog in on Monday afternoon for vomiting -- he was given iv and blood work, stayed overnight until wednesday morning -- when he passed away.

They did not do anything extreme to save him, they thought he was out of the woods and recovering well then he passed out of now where.

How much should a visit like this cost?

I'll update later with the actual cost -- looking for some unbiased opinions.

Thanks

Re: what would you expect to pay?

I'm sorry to hear about your loss.

I have no idea about the cost, I paid $300 for a well visit and blood work for my cat to find out why she is losing weight.

for comparison my dog ate a rock. puked for bours. took him to the vet. IV, X-Ray, pain med to get the X-Ray done, and an enema. 2 hours of time.

An overnight stay is what's going to bring the cost up.
I would say about $900-$1000

Thanks for the responses...we were charged nearly 1500 which seems absurd, but there's not much we could do about it. :/

I guess it stings more to pay so much without coming home with our dog.

Re: what would you expect to pay?

My friend just posted that her small dog had to stay overnight for hydration for an inflamed intestine.
Cost her $800.00

Again, I am so sorry for your loss.
