Anyone have experience w/ Athleta sizing?

the have a REALLY cute ski jacket online,
I want something warm and comfortable that isn't SO bulky (I'm NOT a skier - but my husband and boys are snowboarding so.......I have to go along for the ride)

I would normally order a size L in a jacket b/c I have a large chest and broad shoulders ......but this is on sale, adorable and only the XL is available (size 16)
I'm normally a 12, so 16 seems like it would be TOO much room ........but was wondering if their stuff runs small?

Not sure on their sizing and how it runs but I don't think a size up in a ski type jacket would be horrible- especially because you are layering underneath it.
It might actually be good to have some extra room in case you are wearing a heavier sweater or something.

I call cust service - they noted my account to make an exception in case of return.
Hopefully it will be ok, it's really adorable and on sale
