Plantar Fasciitis

I think I may have developed plantar fasciitis. The pain is just awful. Which kind of doctor would I see- podiatrist, orthopedist, or something else?

Any recommendations on a doctor? I'm on the south shore in Nassau.

TIA!

Re: Plantar Fasciitis

Podiatrist.

There't not much that can be done.
Maybe a cortisone shot.
I found that stretching the foot helps, as well as running your foot over a cold can to help reduce inflammation, a golf ball in the pressure point.
Don't wear flip flops or flat shoes, they irritate the condition. A little wedge works the best.

It takes time for this to go away, but darn does it hurt in the meanwhile.

Re: Plantar Fasciitis

I had pain similar to this, no clinical diagnosis. I went on youtube & watched a bunch of videos on plantar fasciitis . It had been in pain for weeks, and getting worse.
Iced it a few times to bring down inflammation.
I rolled my foot on a frozen water bottle. I rolled it on a toy. Anything to stretch out that ligament. I stretched my hamstrings while sitting on the floor, touching my toes. Stretched & flexed my foot. Made a contraption that looks like the sling some docs use to keep my foot at a 90º angle while I slept ( I was in so much pain in the middle of the night, i remembered what the sling looked like, and reached for a hair tie & tied the front of my sock to the bottom opening of my pants like a ponytail) and the pain subsided and is now completely gone. I have to keep up with the stretching, but it all worked together to relieve the pain.

Gentle massage to the heel also helped after the inflammation went down.

I felt relief the same day.
