Trump travel already more than Obama's 8 years
The figure also includes Melania's security in NY.

Re: Trump travel already more than Obama's 8 years
Even if you're being generous, and calculating a much lower number than the $3.6 million for the Obama's Hawaii trip, he's still going to surpass Obama's 8 year total bill within the first 3-6 months of being in office....
...and not a peep from the people who were outraged about Obama's vacation spending...

I think in his own mind he's probably justifying it as he is working and he is not on vacation. But clearly this has to stop. He should be working from the White House like every other president. It's a disgusting waste of money.

How come no-one is making a bigger deal of this? This is a waste of federal, New York and Florida tax payer funds.

I'm basing this off my own work experience, or at least what I see in my office, but I assume the President is always on call, no?
I mean, my boss went to Italy with his family for 10 days. He came back and he had an hour or two or three of time to be billed almost every day. Even if it's just an email or a conference call or whatever. He worked while on vacation. Not every minute, of course, but he worked.
I'm just speaking to your assumption of DT's justification - which may very well be exactly correct.

I'm sure he is working, but taxpayers shouldn't be paying to secure 3 offices.

Re: Trump travel already more than Obama's 8 years
We know that he's meeting with people (we've all seen the cell phone pics of the meeting with the Japanese PM... ), but it's the extreme hypocrisy that's the most annoying. trump and all of his followers spent 8 years screaming about how much time and money Obama spent on "vacation", and trump is going to surpass everything that Obama did over 8 years, in just his first 6 months.
People aren't in more of an uproar because, with his insane tweets, his Cabinet choices, his policies that he's tried to enact, and his upcoming policies, all of the ties to Russia, his huge list of conflicts of interest, etc, etc, him spending huge amounts of taxpayer dollars for his own benefit is, unfortunately, the least of our worries at this point....

No that's not what I'm saying. I don't think he's taking vacation, I think he is working from there. But regardless it costs the American people millions of dollars for him to work away from the White House. The costs for everyone that has to travel with him is insane. Those costs would be much lower in DC. He should be required to work from the White House.

It's also frustrating that they are paying millions to fortify Camp David while it sits unused. Mar-a-Lago is a logistics nightmare because there are guests milling around all over the place.

He is playing A LOT of golf. This after bashing Obama for years for playing golf occasionally.
Such a hypocrite.

You misunderstand me.
You said what you believed to be DT's line of thought - that he's not vacationing, he's working. That's fair.
My point is that I believe that all Presidents, even while they're on vacation, still work - which really goes to DT's 2014 tweet shaming Obama for taking a vacation. I'm not disagreeing with you, just with the 'logic' in his potential line of thought.
He's still a big money-wasting hypocrite (and every day I hate him more but I'm trying to be rational lol).

They doubled the initiation fee from $100k to $200k. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a cut.
As much as I loathe him, I wouldn't begrudge him these weekends if he was going to Camp David. The costs would not be nearly as astronomical. I read somewhere that local businesses near the club are suffering because of all the increased security. Wonder if he's taking that into consideration give his pro-business positions. He probably thinks they should appreciate the free publicity.

The point isn't whether he is working or not working. There is NO justifiable reason for him to be going to Florida every weekend. He can do the same things he does there in the White House. It's excessive and hypocritical.
Obama could have gone to Chicago to work every weekend, but he didn't.
Bush could have gone to Texas to work every weekend, but he didn't.
Clinton could have gone to Arkansas every weekend to work, but didn't.
It's unnecessarily spending Federal money.
