Where can I board a 10 year old diabetic dog?
I have 2 dogs. They are 8 & 10 years old. The older of the 2 dogs is diabetic. The diabetes is under good control. My problem is boarding. My vet took them last summer so that my family could go on a vacation that we had planned before my dog was diagnosed but they do not normally board. Everywhere I call will not touch a diabetic dog. We have some family obligations out of state this summer and I don't know what to do.
We are in south shore suffolk.

The vet won't do it again? Usually with medical needs, a vet is the best place to board. If not, did you try K-9 Clubhouse in West Babylon ?
We watched someones diabetic dog for 7 days and it was pretty scary. Not like it's hard to give insulin, but I was so nervous something would happen while we had her.
I just asked my towns FB page because I remember a bunch of people raving about a home boarder - I'll get her name & number for you. Hopefully she can help you out. I'll update when I get the name

Thank you! Our vet does not have boarding facilities. They went out of their way and did us a huge favor which is why I need to find a place.
I am also not comfortable having someone enter my home while I am on vacation to feed and take care of the dogs.
It is very nerve wracking! I know! :(

They only provided us with names of people who could come to our home. I am not comfortable with a stranger entering my house to take care of my dogs.

I would check with other Vets who have boarding then. It may be the best option for you

Check with other vets in the area- who is your current vet?
I have an excellent vet practice- not sure if they would do it but it might be worth a call

friends of ours just used the K-9 Clubhouse in W. Babylon over the February break for their diabetic dog. They had to pay extra for them to give him the insulin shots but they RAVED the place.

Where can I board a 10 year old diabetic dog?
I used Quail Run in Medford for our last vacation. One of my dogs has glaucoma and requires pills and eye drops throughout the day. They had no issue taking him and just asked that all of the meds be clearly labeled with the directions.

I just found a couple that are amazing on DogVacay... (my brother uses someone he found on the app out in MI and has been very happy.)
I'm going to be using this couple in Sept. - and even for overnight trips so DH and I can do a bit of wandering!
We met them on Sunday and they were fabulous. They take the dogs in their home (4 max, but if you want yours to be the only ones, they are fine with that) and basically they have the run of the house/yard. Huge, gorgeous yard.
They don't have pets of their own now, but have been dog owners for 35 years, and will take care of pets with special needs. FM me if you're interested, i can forward you the details.

Where can I board a 10 year old diabetic dog?
My vet does boarding and was wonderful with my dog who was on several medications twice a day - My Pets Vet in Huntington. Maybe they can help you.
I also have someone that I take my current dog to - she watches dogs in her home. She's in St. James - so a little far for you, but she's wonderful. She also works as a vet tech, so is probably comfortable with a dog with medical needs. I will FM you her info
