Can we please discuss.....

...those friggin ribbons they sew into dresses and tops at the armpits?

Those are the most annoying things on the face of the planet!

They are meant to hang the dress or shirt with, but I have never in my life used them to hang. I hang the dress on the hanger like it's hung in the store. Like everyone else hangs it.

What is the point of those things other than to just stick out and look ridiculous when you put the clothing on?

I always forget to cut them out ahead of time and I end up pulling the dress on and having to shove them into my arm pits because once it's on, I don't want to take a scissor to it.

Seriously, what is the point of these annoying things??

I'm fascinated! Do you just hang them from those ribbons?
Or use the ribbons to secure them to hanger somehow while hanging it by the shoulders?

Can't stand them! (Although I do have to admit, they are useful for a FEW things I own, but VERY FEW). I try to remember to cut them out asap, but usually forget until it's too late. I even have a pair of pants that have them Chat Icon . Wore them the other day and had one sticking up out of the side until I finally realized it - it was a good look, for sure Chat Icon

I had a thin sweater top with a very wide neckline. I actually used the ribbons crisscrossed and hooked over the top of the hanger to keep it from sliding off the hanger.

That was the only time I used them

I wrap them around the hook part of the hanger.

See I feel like this is necessary if it's a very wide neck, but most of my stuff stays on the hanger well with just the little grooves in the hanger to hold on to.
I also find they are so LONG. I'm shoving them into my armpits and they just keep going and going.

And I find it so annoying to have to unwrap them from the hanger when I want to take something out of my closet. I only use them if there is no other way to keep something on the hanger. Otherwise, they are just a big annoyance to me.

Can we please discuss.....

I only use them if the item will get hanger bumps in the fabric. Otherwise they are cut out.

And if I am wearing a dress with very short cap sleeves and like a high cut armpit, they always seem to stick out, no matter what!

Re: Can we please discuss.....

They're supposed to be used to take the pressure off of the garment when it's hung so that it doesn't get stretched out (pulled down) from hanging on the hanger! Chat Icon Still annoying, but they *do* serve a function!

Same. I also have those velvety hangers so it kinda grips the garments.

I love it.

And yes, sometimes I get cheap shirts that have them and they are like a rubbery plastic. I can rip those right out with no scissor.
The better quality stuff has actually ribbon ones

I only use them when the dress doesn't properly hang on the hanger. Also, I place those ribbons in the cutout/indents on the hanger.

I rarely cut them out, only if they are seriously annoying me.
