Huge appetite
I feel like all I want to do is eat. I am always hungry and now am starting to gain weight. I'm 38 and workout 2-4 days a week. How can I help curb this crazy appetite??

Re: Huge appetite
The best thing to do is fill up on protein and fiber. Also cut out white carbs and added sugar. Carbs and sugar make you ravenous. Protein and fiber help sustain you.
I've always been told this and never believed in it until now. I've been dieting for a while and now on Weigth watchers. So I try to keep my carb and sugar intake down to stay within my points. I made myself an 8 point pancake breakfast w a small amount of lite syrup ... it was glorious. But I was STARVING ALL DAY. Nothing would satisfy me. I wound up going over my points AND went to bed hungry!
Damn sugar!!

Re: Huge appetite
Misty Copeland the ballerina says fill up on healthy fats to keep you full. she recommends cream cheese, and other dairy. she also says she snacks on nuts throughout the day. "Nuts have become my go-to snack. I keep a baggie or a small container of them in my purse and my locker at ABT's rehearsal studio because I've found that they satisfy my hunger and give me a quick spike of energy," she writes. She suggests a handful, or 1/8 of a cup.
worth a try.

Re: Huge appetite
It's probably one of two things -chronic dehydration, which triggers a hunger response, or nutrient deficiency, which, as mentioned, is most like fats, but could be something else.
I wouldn't do the dairy thing though, plant based is much healthier. Avocado, olive oil, coconut...
Find nutrient dense, and not calorie dense foods to snack on.

Re: Huge appetite
How much are you eating? Are you tracking to see?
One thing I've noticed is if I'm not eating enough to support my workouts, etc. - I binge. I stopped "dieting" and starting eating to fuel my body and workouts.

Agreed.
It took me a few weeks to get used to it but eating paleo has helped me with this. It's trained me to only eat when I'm hungry. Some days that's a ton and some days it's not much.

Good fats and protein curb the cravings for me. I know you didn't ask for recipes but I wanted to share this because it's low calorie and so satisfying. I never used to eat avocado but for couple of months now, I have been making burrito bowl with guacamole at home. I make it pretty healthy with lettuce, cucumber, tomato, little bit of ciliantro rice, and black beans. Sometimes I add grilled chicken.
