It's amazing what some people do for the sake of "beauty"

Anyone watch or follow Farah Dhukai?

Someone on my FB shares a lot of her videos and she has some great DIY hacks for skincare and beauty using things like aloe, ginger, honey, etc.
Pretty much a lot of all natural hair and skin masks, pimple reducers, scrubs etc. all with stuff you have in your kitchen or bought at Whole Foods.

I think it was pretty cool so I checked out her instagram.

She looks a LOT like Kim K- but I digress.

Most of her stuff was cool, stuff like I mentioned above, but then she was saying in one video how her hairline causes her face to be the "wrong" shape and she likes tor reshape her hair line to make her face more oval. She proceeds to shave and cut at her hair line and then use that toppix stuff (the shake on hair fibers that people use to cover bald spots) to reshape it around her face. This was like a huge long tedious process and when she was finished I really saw no difference.

Then the next thing that made me go Chat Icon was she had this rolling device she bought on amazon to roll over her lips to make them "fuller and pinker". It was actually a needling device that runs little needles over your lips . Chat Icon The idea is that the injury will cause the body to produce more collagen in the area while healing and hence make your lips fuller?

I mean I thought I was bad with the 15 min it takes me to do a very simple make up routine in the morning and clipping in some hair extensions.

But spending an hour cutting and reshaping your HAIRLINE because it's not right? Or rolling actual needles over your lips to make them fuller and pinker ?

Man, I guess I"m low maintenance after all!

I have seen some of her videos. Never saw her instagram posts but that is nutty lol. Can you post the hairline video? That sounds insane lol.

Compared to her old videos her face looks very different these days. Looks like a nose job at the least.

I actually bought one of those rollers (short needles) from Amazon because it's supposed to help with scars. I tried it once. I was surprised it didn't hurt at all. As usual I didn't keep up with it so don't know if it really works. Never tried it on my lips - I imagine that might hurt. Longer needles might be more painful. I've seen crazy videos on youtube though of people making their face bleed with it. It's probably best to have a dermatologist do it.

I have heard of the needling for acne scars but it's always done in a dermatologist or plastic surgeons office. I can't imagine doing it at home. To me, that's something you'd want a pro to do, not really a DIY, but maybe that's just me.

I'll try to find the video of the hairline transformation!

Found it! It involves waxing your hairline too! Chat Icon
I can just see myself trying to do this and getting the wax all up in my hair and having to rip out half my scalp! Chat Icon

I saw the hairline thing. I would never do it but my beauty routine is wake up shower wash dry straighten hair and walk out the door. Since I went out on disability I stopped wearing any makeup. I've been back at work 3 weeks and still don't wear it.

I have seen her videos. I have never seen the hairline one...that is a bit much. But then again, I can't be bothered with contouring or any of that.

I do have a roller and have been using it for 2 years now. I use it on my face along with a serum and have used it on my lips a few times along with a lip serum for moisture but I don't do that regularly.

Is it a roller with needles? I have seen rollers for facial massage, eye bags etc....but the needling freaks me out

Yeah, it's probably best to go see a derm for something like that. I get these nutty hair-brained ideas, I'll maybe even try it once but I never follow through. I am so low maintenance I should just be a guy lol I like the idea of being a girl I just don't want to have to do any of the work.

As for the video.. Wtf is she doing? Chat Icon

Yes it has needles. I was a little freaked out the first time too but it doesn't hurt. You just roll over you face (not your eye lids) for 2 minutes a couple of nights a week. You don't have use a ton of pressure so you aren't digging into the skin.

Do you think it works? I don't have a roller, but was seriously considering going to have it done - but it was $$$! I believe the cost included then giving you a roller for home use.

I never had it done professionally. I use the one from R&F. Is it a miracle worker - no. My fine lines have not completely disappeared. But I do think it helped reduce them in the beginning and now is more preventative. I do also find it helps my skin absorb the serum and moisturizers.

No offense but to care about your appearance to that extent sounds like a mental illness. It's beyond overboard what people will do.

I kind of agree. I wear makeup daily, I care about my hair, my nails, etc.
But to be changing the shape of your HAIRLINE?

It reminds me of the Kardashians. Endless plastic surgeries, 20 lbs of make up, contouring their faces to within an inch of it's life.
Hours longs make up routines.

It's sad actually to hate yourself that much

Never heard of her so I looked her up on FB. Watched a few videos. And my god all the layering of makeup would make my face feel 5 lbs heavier! I don't understand all of it.

I agree. I can see layering make-up for a special occasion, but on a daily basis? I notice younger girls working in the city that wear make-up like that all the time and, in daylight, it looks terrible IMHO.

I agree.

The amount of make up and procedures that young woman apply and do is out of control. They all want to walk around looking like a filter. No one wants to be seen looking like their natural self. Even the 'natural' look they do is time consuming and over board.

And I feel like they all want to look the same.
Like clones of each other.
The same face.
Hence why this Farrah chick looks like a clone of Kim K.
They are all walking around sharing the same face
It's sad, what our society has done to self esteem and individuality and standards of "beauty"

Its true. All these girls on my fb feed (makeup/beauty groups) all look the same. The cut crease eyeshadow....the big eyebrows, the claw nails, mega highlighter, etc.

Its called derma-rolling and its a professional procedure. It should be preformed by a professional. If the device isn't sanitozed properly between procedure you could cause some real damage there
