Do you ever feel like
grabbing every bit of clothes in your closet and just throwing it in the garbage and starting from scratch with a brand new wardrobe??
If you had to or could - what is the least amount of money you think you could restock your closet with?

Re: Do you ever feel like
well I don't know about getting rid of every single thing in my wardrobe, but I have been frustrated at times.
I would love a $5K shopping spree. (like what they give on "what not to wear"). I tend to be on the frugal side and 99% of what I have was bought either on sale, at discount stores like Marshall's or at the outlets. I would love to be able to splurge on things that I would have never bought in the past.

I have basically had to do this since returning to work after the baby. None of my clothes fit anymore. I've probably spent about $1,500 - $2,000 so far.

Re: Do you ever feel like
I could blow 5K just in accessories, I would need at least double that... That being getting rid of everything and starting over. If i'm going to get rid of everything, I'm going to do it right!

dang! maybe i should do that...although i have a sneaking suspicion that you must have some really nice handbags and shoes, and while I do they aren't that expensive...but I think I'm going to talk to DH about this anyway.

Re: Do you ever feel like
It's taken me YEARS to build up my clothing and shoe inventory. I couldn't imagine replacing everything from scratch.
I guess I don't feel the need to scrap by whole wardrobe because I'm always adding to it.

Absolutely. I would chuck a lot of my stuff without even thinking twice.
I could probably replace most of my things in the 5K range.

Re: Do you ever feel like
I would love that. I'd need a stylist though. I am in such a clothes rut and not really creative so I'd buy the same stuff all over again.

Re: Do you ever feel like
I actually feel like this right now! I don't want to buy anything new though, b/c I know I'll want to through those out soon too.
I think I could get a decent wardrobe with $5000 at the places I usually shop, but $10K would be nice, so I wouldn't have to be so price tag concious.
Actually I probably always rotate 10-15 peices anyway, So I could probaly get by with 1-2K, starting from scratch.

there is no way your closet is only worth $5K- think about shoes, bags, jeans- jackets
I have stuff that is at least 5 years old
I sold about 10 pairs of shoes on ebay and few bags- so I should take the value down alittle

Re: Do you ever feel like
I'm kinda cleaning house right now. My wedding was last November, and I honestly did not take the time to shop for much clothing last winter. I am still sick of the few things that I did have last year, and I got rid of anything that doesn't look nice and new. I think I can get by spending 5K for a new winter wardrobe, but that's without designer handbags or shoes that are $800 a pair.

Re: Do you ever feel like
Yesss....I could probably fit everything I want to chuck into shopping bag that is how much cloths I have that fit. Needless to say I need more clothing options but have to watch my spending. I despertly want to go on What Not To Wear but it would be a pretty boring espisode considering I dontg have that much clothes I would be in heaven with $5k for a new wardorobe.

And take into consideration that a lot of us like a sale. If you add up the full price of all of your clothing, shoes and purses, you could be close.
I know that I have close to $1K in cashmere sweaters alone nevermind the rest of the sweaters I have. Then think of nice Ann Taylor, J Crew and Banana Republic pants and skirts that are usually over $100 a piece.
If you think of your wardrobe at its full price not what you spent, it is feasible.
