Moving company recommendations

We are going to be moving soon. Does anyone have any recommendations on a good company. Does anyone know about how much it costs? It's been quite awhile since we've moved.

Simply Moving. They were awesome aND the best price I found. We got quotes from maybe 7 places. Proce really varies based on the sozr of your house, it'seems done by cubic feet of the stuff you are moving. It was NOT cheap. I don't even remember what we paid but it was a lot more than I anticipated. Theyll want to come to your home to give an estimate, they need to see how much stuff you have. Def give simply move a ring. We used Carlos. He was nice and very responsive. The moving team was AMAZING too. They really went above and beyond.

stupid question...are people concerned with moving companies and bed bugs? Anything to do to minimize the risk?

I heard that 2 big culprits for bed bugs are:
1. Mattress delivery - since they usually take away the old beds. After all when people have bed bugs, first thing a lot of people do is replace their bed. So the bed bugs are in the delivery truck.
My mom's friend bought a new bed from a store and afterwards they got bed bugs, they dealt with it for 2 years before they got rid of them. They thought it was from the bed itself, but thinking back on it...it was probably in the delivery truck rather than a new bed.

2. Moving companies - some people move due to bed bugs and all these moving companies use those blankets/coverings to wrap your furniture...the same coverings that they probably used on the infected stuff...

you can say the same about movie theaters, or any seats that have cushions

Mattresses should be covered in plastic prior to them being loaded on the truck. Theyre approx 10$ on amazon. and most reputable companies willl provide this for you ( for a fee) or you buy it on your own

Hand down Shea moving in Queens.

They moved me 3 times in 4 years and were amazing. The crew got there early. Never broke one thing. Were patient when we had them move things around.

They will give you a capped price and free estimate. SO if the move goes over the estimate you dont pay more than the stimate.
As honest as the day I long.

Re: Moving company recommendations

We had a great experience with Verity movers for an OOS move. I had to rescheduled our move bc our closing was delayed a few days and they were able to accommodate last minute and after closing was delayed again, the held our stuff in their truck extra days before delivering it to our new house.

I think it cost us about $10,000 and I don't think we had much stuff (left furniture behind) but we did take our huge swing set to our new house. Oh, and they stopped at my parents house to pick up my piano, it was an extra $125 or so, but no issues.

Re: Moving company recommendations

My husband and I moved yesterday and used jp urban moving based on yelp reviews. All I have to say is WOW!!!!! These guys were absolutely incredible!!!!!!! I am neurotic and I didn't once feel the need to micromanage or even check up on them!!!! They stopped by a storage facility to pick up my husbands stuff and then my apartment to pack up the rest (bellerose and Douglaston) then drove to new rochelle (westchester) and unpacked, reassembled everything. They took sooooo much care in everything they did !!! Can't recommend them enough

If u do go to them, I can give you my husbands name so you can request the same
3 guys. Just fm me.

Moving company recommendations

We used Moving Doctor and LOVED them. Ask for the "Carribbean Team." The guys worked quickly, carefully and didn't break a thing. They were actually finished before the hours we were quoted for. And they were a lot more reasonable than Verity and a few other companies we priced.

We just used Shleppers to pack and move us. They were fantastic. We've moved quite a bit over the past 10 years, and they were superb.
