...to Tapestry.

If they want to appeal to the younger market, maybe they should make more interesting bags. Changing the name cheapens the brand.

I thought Coach wasn't changing the name... but the corporation which owns Coach, Kate Spade, and errr something else.
Maybe I'm wrong though.
Also, I had no idea Coach owned Kate Spade. I love their bags.
ETA: Oh, they just bought them. So Kate Spade is going to be crap now, too?

I thought that too - the parent company is changing the name to include all the brands it owns. (but, they didn't say anything about the brands changing).

So Coach is changing it's name....
If Coach wants to be more relevant, they should go back to making the leather bags and goods that made their company what it once was. Once they changed their line to include canvas and logo designs and all of the other crap they started selling in the 90's, it all went downhill putting them on par with cheaper brands. Coach, stick to your roots and what made your brand great.

Yes, just changing the parent company name - which is strange why they would even bother. But they would still keep the "brand names" the same, Coach, Kate Spade, Stuart W...etc.
Its similar to Estee Lauder - Estee Lauder doesnt only own Estee Lauder brand, they own and manufacture MAC, Bobbi Brown, Clinique, Smashbox, etc...and similar to Coach, they acquired more popular millennial brands to stay relevant like BECCA and Too Faced.

This is what I understand. Just last week I met someone who is an executive for Coach. She told me that they own these other brands and that there will be a new name for the parent company. I was under the impression that Coach will still be one of their lines. One of the issues was that the recently acquired companies are higher end brands and they did not want to be known only for a brand that is more like the entry level into luxury bags. It was a very interesting conversation.

No, Coach is not changing its name..
The holding company 'Coach' is changing its name to Tapestry to better encompass the other brands that they now own
Stuart Wietzman, Kate Spade, Coach etc are all under the umbrella of Tapestry now.
That was not very clear when it was announced to the public, and there has been a lot of confusion around it!
