Reading help
DS is struggling with reading. He is in 1st grade but diagnosed with ASD and his teacher told me that he is struggling.
Any recommendations on tutors, reading programs, etc that I can look into to help him? He can memorize sight words it's sounding out words that he is struggling with.
We recently discovered that he was memorizing books so he fooled everyone into believing that he could read. Now that he is prevented from doing that he is getting more and more frustrated.
Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.

My cousin has been taking her daughter to Kumon. She’s in 2nd grade and reading has been a huge challenge for her. She basically hates it and is unmotivated (but loves math). It’s only been a month, but she likes it so far.
My kids use the Razkids app (their school has it linked to their reading levels). They love it. What’s great is you can also choose for your child to read along with the it while the app reads the book and highlights the words as it reads.
My kids don’t use this function as they can read but they like to when they are tired and just want to look through books.
Oh also my kids school uses the Fundations program. This is supposed to help them with sounding out letters to make words.

Our school uses Raz kids also. In addition, my son enjoyed "Teach Your Monster To Read" it is free if you use your computer. The app costs money.

Reading help
This was DD exactly at the beginning of first grade last year. We started at Kumon and I cannot say enough good about them. The program is so easy and DD loves it. It teaches reading in a really great way- hard for me to explain, but building on foundations of sounds. She's now in 2nd grade and the improvement is crazy! She actually skipped two reading levels over the summer. We go twice a week and over the summer, went once a week. It's about 1/2 hour each session and then 10 minute assignments for the days they are not there. She really likes it and we are very happy with her progress
