Yellowstone Itinerary
Has anyone done Yellowstone recently? Can you share your itinerary? It's a little overwhelming, and I usually am pretty good and figuring out a "plan"!
ETA, we would be flying to that area, not driving

Yellowstone Itinerary
I did Yellowstone 7 years ago and still one of my favorite trips. Cannot wait to do it again! We flew into Wyoming, rented a car and stayed in Cooke City right outside of one of the entrances. Definitely need a week if you want to attempt to see the major sights, and even then it wont be enough! We were able to see all of this https://www.yellowstonepark.com/park/overview-map-yellowstone

Re: Yellowstone Itinerary
We did this a couple years ago in 1 week. Such an amazing trip!! Our itinerary was:
Day 1 - Jackson Hole (you could easily spend another day here) Day 2 - drive through Grand Teton National Park Day 3 - Yellowstone - drive Grant Village to Madison (South yellowstone) - stayed in Canyon area Day 4 - Yellowstone - 'Grand Canyon' of Yellowstone & Hayden Valley - Lake Hotel Day 5 - Yellowstone - Canyon to Lamar Valley - Roosevelt Junction - stayed at Mammoth Hot Springs Day 6 - Yellowstone - Mammoth Hot Springs area & Norris Geyser - stayed at Canyon hotel Day 7 - Fly home
It can be a challenge to get lodging in the Park bc there isn't much so book well ahead.

Yellowstone Itinerary
Thanks! So far I'm thinking Jackson Hole for 2 nights, then the rest Yellowstone. Did you see a lot of bears? Now my concern is bears...we were watching some scary bear videos lol
Yes, I saw the lodging issues...and I don't think I could switch hotels so often! Too much of a pain to pack up. But, I did find some great lodging outside the park in these little cabins, so we might do that! https://www.yellowstonevacations.com/stay/explorer-cabins-at-yellowstone

Re: Yellowstone Itinerary
We've always done Yellowstone and the Badlands in the same trip (usually 2 weeks). We fly into Denver, drive up and do the badlands, wall drug, Custer park, black hills, then drive across. It's neat to cross the continental divide. Then we spend the majority of our time in Yellowstone, grand Teton, and Jackson hole. We stay in the same place the whole time and drive around. Then we drive back to Denver to fly out.

We saw a ton of wildlife in Grand Teton (especially buffalo), and then in Yellowstone, it is SO spread out, we saw a majority of animals in the Hayden Valley. But they are all over. We only had one actual bear sighting - it was a momma with a cub, but it was from a distance. It caused a "bear jam" on the single lane road... That said, people who stayed in the Roosevelt Cabins near Hayden Valley said they saw bears, up close, daily. It really depends! The park is ginormous so be prepared for hours of driving a day, esp if you only stay in one spot.
