Hershey Lodge $$$
Dh priced this for 3 nights. It came out to $299 a night & doesn't even include tix. We usually just stay at eden & drive the 40min but wanted something closer this time. Is the Lodge worth it? Is there a way I can get the room a bit cheaper?

Re: Hershey Lodge $$$
I asked a similar question here. If you check out Trip Advisor you will find a LOT of reviews about musty rooms. I can't deal with that for that kind of money. For that kind of money the room better be top notch. We are booking the new Marriot Courtyard on Chocolate Ave. The prices are on the high side in the summer for a hotel of that level but it's new and clean and has great reviews. I think everything is high in the area in the summer due to being close to Hershey. It has a small indoor pool and doesn't have the resort feel of Eden- which i will miss- but it's close.
ETA- I went on TA and typed in "musty" as a search criteria and 75 reviews came up with the word in them. The first one was this:
We left the 5th avenue wing room last nite and came home because of the terrible musty mildew smell. U could tell that they probably keep this area shuttered during the off season as as soon as u walk in the hall area it reeks of mildew and must. Checkin was long and tedious and our room was 1/2 mile away from restaurants. $200 plus dollars for a stink in' 1950's postage stamp room. What a ripoff.. stay away!

Re: Hershey Lodge $$$
That's gross! I was thinking the Lodge waterpark area looks cool & an outdoor pool is a must for me. Maybe we'll just do eden again because the cost is a lot.

Yes I really wanted to stay there too- for the pool and water park but not for those prices with those reviews. I would just do Eden and make the drive to Hershey if you must have the outdoor pool. A lot of the hotels in the area of Hershey are more like Hampton Inn type deals with only a small indoor pool . There is nothing like Eden in the area (other than the Hotel Hershey which is super expensive!)

Re: Hershey Lodge $$$
we went in October, and had no issues of musty rooms. I dont know what I paid when we went. We stayed in the peanut butter cup section in the same building at the pool which was nice. Plus if you stay at the lodge, you get shuttles to the parks. What days are you going? Are you going on a weekend? If you can do a weekday to bring the price down, that might help.

Same days we usually go. It's not even about the weekends in summer. Every day is expensive due to the season. Kids are off every day, so it's not like the weekdays will be any cheaper

Hershey Lodge $$$
We stayed in a Fifth Avenue room back for their Christmas thing, and it was musty smelling. I was disappointed for the price I paid (over $800 for 2 nights)

Re: Hershey Lodge $$$
Check out the deluxe cabins at the Hershey Campground. They are SO nice!! They have lots of activities & an outdoor pool. Plus the shuttle to the park.

The Residence Inn Harrisburg has both indoor and outdoor pools. It's about 10 minutes to the park. The outdoor pool isn't "fancy", but it's outside. The Red Lion Harrisburg also has both...their outdoor pool is huge, but not fancy. They have a nice outdoor playground. It's across from a Target, etc. if you need "essentials"

Re: Hershey Lodge $$$
We stayed at the Lodge last summer and didn't have a musty room. Another perk is you can get into the park an hour before it opens which is nice to just skip the long line.

Stay there all the time, WELL worth it. Especially now with the entire water area indoors. It's a small water park.

HINT - Always ask for a TOWER room, they are the newest and won't smell musty.
How are you? I know it's been a long while since we've corrresponded on here. I haven't been to the Lodge in about 3 years and am thinking of going for Easter. I'm also thinking of maybe staying at Hotel Hershey and splurging. Ever stay there, I don't remember? If so, would you recommend it and is there any specifications you'd suggest I ask for when booking such as when I would ask for a " Tower Room" at the Lodge?
Thanks!

I don't think the outdoor pool is open at the Hotel in April, which makes me say absolutely stay at the lodge in April, due to the new indoor water area, pool, etc, all indoors. It's really nice! But if it was the summer, then definitely stay at the hotel just once. It's gorgeous and the pools are amazing (outdoor).
