Constant aches

Hi. I'm not really sure anybody can help, but here goes. I'm in my late 30s. Have had 2 kids in 2 years (both c-sections, the latter one with severe Preeclampsia and possible HELLP), and in between that time, severely broke my ankle such that I had 2 surgeries, 6 screws, and was unable to even attempt to walk for 3 months. Fast forward to now, And I feel like I'm 85 years old. I'm just not sure what to do. I feel like my body aches all the time. I dont walk normal anymore - its almost like I waddle and creek and generally ache (including continued sciatic pain i think) (and while I am overweight, 2 years ago when I was also over weight about the same, i didnt do this)-- i feel like my joints hurt, and as of recent, I am waking up every morning in excruciating back pain that eventually works itself out after about 5 minutes. I dont have pain really when I'm not moving though I dont think. I went to a PCP a few months ago after the birth of my DS and everything looked normal health wise....

I guess my question is, what dr. do I go to, if any? Is it that I need a chiropractor? Who do you see when you feel like you have aches and pains?! Is this normal after 2 kids?? HELP!

Constant aches

I think extra weight can definitely make it worse. When I was pregnant I put on a lot of weight and I swear my feet are never the same. My whole body is out of wack. Have you looked into accupuncture? My mom needs shoulder surgery and she has been doing accupuncture and the pain relief is HUGE.

I would try Yoga, Hot Yoga or even just swimming to get your body moving. Sometimes not enough movement can cause aches and pains. When I have a bad flare up with a health condition I have there are days I am on the couch literally for 9 days and when I finally feel better I am super sore and feel like everything hurts. I know you didn’t ask for exercise advice but maybe try to see if something like this can help you. I’m sorry you don’t feel well

Re: Constant aches

It may not be the fact that you had kids. I too feel like I am 85 years old and don't have kids. Constant pain. Lower back pain that is out of control in the AM. Joint pain, also pain in my sternum that is unbearable at times.

Drs., tests, everything normal. I did have reactivated Epstein Barr in September and it all started around that time. I'm also sick constantly. Like my immune system can't keep up.

I have no advice on what Dr. to see because I am at a loss too. My Dr. wants me to see an orthopedist and Rheumatologist and my friend who is a nurse mentioned an immunologist. Looks like I'm gonna have a busy few months.

I wish you the best in figuring it all out. In the meantime I try to eat healthy, drink a ton of water and get the rest I need when I need it. Don't know if it's helping, but I assume it can't hurt.

Re: Constant aches

I feel the same some days.

Lower back pain I never had before, stiffness and tightness everywhere, achy, my knees literally CREEK when I squat down- audible enough for my DD to hear and comment (I know I'm on the road to arthritis there), you name it.

I also lead a very sedentary life style so that doesn't help,.

The chiro has helped me immensely as has some light exercise/stretching/yoga type stuff

Re: Constant aches

After having my children (after 4 months of bedrest) I was (actually still am) very out of shape and I also felt like I was 100 trying to do things that were once easy for me.
I was overweight before pregnancy but still very active and not necessarily "out of shape" . I think the extra aches and pains are a combination of becoming out of shape from bed rest and carrying around extra weight catching up on me.
I now do yoga , am working on doing at least light exercise as much as possible, and eating better and I am starting to feel a little better.
