Mortgages?
My husband and I just received our contract for our first home purchase. I was hoping for any recommendations regarding mortgages....We went to TD bank today and weren't overly impressed. Any and all information is appreciated. Thanks!

Mortgages?
I've been working with Trent Williams at Chase - he's been great to work with - very helpful and always available to answer any questions.

Re: Mortgages?
Shop around and see where you can get the best rate/lowest fees, etc. We're going through First National Bank of LI and they've been great, but we almost did Bethpage Federal Credit Union, and they were great, too. I'd steer clear of the bigger banks.

I'm using Chase and their rates are the same as (or better) than BFCU - your best bet is to shop around for rates

Mortgages?
Whatever you do, stay away from Silver Lining Funding. They were the ABSOLUTE WORST. I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy.

They're usually slower and have higher fees. Not always, but usually. BFCU's fees aren't cheap, but they are fast and responsive. I have 2 friends who work for Chase and even they said not to use them for mortgages.

I used Chase before and am using them now - almost no fees at all. And this time (not the previous time, but now) they have been very fast in getting everything done. My on or about closing date is 4/1 and I have been ready to close since mid-March (now just waiting on the sellers). Just saying that sometimes "big" banks are OK to use and can offer the same as the "little guy"
