Master bedroom decor advice

Hello. My husband and I have just bought our first house. I'm not very good with color schemes/interior design. This is our master bedroom. I was hoping someone can offer some suggestions to update and make the room a beautiful tranquil retreat. The pink carpet is definitely going....there is hardwood underneath, not sure if we should just change carpet or refinish hardwood underneath. Any suggestions appreciated! Thanks!

We have wood floors throughout our house and I love it. Also healthier in the long run.
I would go with a light blue color and add tans (beach theme).

We painted our bedroom November Skies by BM.
It is the perfect tranquil blue. It looks amazing.
Check it out: (not my bedroom!)

I would also get rid of those mirrored doors and put white doors on.
Paint the other doors and the window trim that is in that golden oak color white too

Crown molding

I happen to like carpet in a bedroom, but that's a personal choice.(obviously not that pink one Chat Icon) I'd probably do a carpet similar to one in the picture I posted of the paint color. Something with a nice texture to it.

Thank you for the suggestions. The bedroom pictured is gorgeous! I do like the light blue color....and agree that painting the doors and the window trim white would help. Yes, mirrored doors do have to go too...although I do like the idea of having a full length mirror to see the whole outfit at times, maybe we can hang one on the inside of the closet door...Love the idea of crown molding!!! I would have to price the difference between removing the carpet and refinishing the hardwood vs. replacing carpet. What do you think about window treatments? The room has 2 of those windows...unfortunately they are a bit on the smaller side...not sure if just some nice blinds or blinds with curtains....

What color would you use to accent the November skies color/white trim as far as bedding and accessories?

When we first did it, I had a comforter that was pale blue and brown.
Brown defintiely works as an accent color,
All my pictures on the walls are in silver frames and I have a big silver framed mirror over my dresser.
Silver lamp bases with white shades.

I have since changed the bedding to a turquoise blue shade with silver/gray accents- like a tapestry.
Here is what I have now:

Browns work and grays work with this color as well

Yes, hang a full length mirror inside the door or if you have room in the room, get a free standing one

Thank you so much for your helpful suggestions!!! You really helped me envision how I can makeover the room more to my taste. I would have never thought of a free standing mirror, but that can really work nicely. I think I like the white, silver/gray accents. Now to get my husband on board ;0) Again thank you for taking the time to help. I have other rooms I'm baffled by as well, lol....that I may post soon for ideas. I'd like to figure out paint choices at least...so we can paint before we move all our junk in.

I would leave the doors and trim the oak color, but that's just my preference. I never like painting natural wood if it can be helped. I'd refinish your floors too and ditch the carpet altogether. Replacing the mirror doors is also a good move.

You could also opt for an accent wall behind your bed. We have a dark purple behind our bed and an extremely light grey for the rest of the walls. BM Approaching Storm and BM Arctic Grey.

Congrats on owning your first home!

Do you already have furniture? If so, what is the color and style?

I would prioritize what you feel is most important to change now and what can wait. Obviously paint and removing the carpeting will make a huge difference. If the hardwood underneath the carpet is in good shape, either leave as is or refinish and add an area rug. HD, Lowes and Overstock have great area rugs at reasonable prices.

You might be opening a can of worms if you paint the doors. I am assuming all doors in the home are stained wood. ???

You can leave the mirrored closet for now as you mentioned you want a full length mirror. Easy fix in future to update doors.

I LOVE crown molding and would have it installed. Again, you might be opening a can of worms though. Do any other rooms have crown molding?

A light blue, tan or even gray are very soothing and versatile colors for walls, bedding and drapes. Easy colors to accent with.

Woven blinds would look great on the small windows.

I recently completed a total renovation on a condo in FL. You are going to learn how quickly prices can add up. Sign up for coupon offers, compare prices, shop only when there a great sale and never pay shipping costs. Bed Bath & Beyond has a program (beyond plus) for $29 a year. 20% off total purchase both in-store and online and free shipping. Totally worth the yearly $29 fee. Lowes offers a credit card with no annual fee and 5% of all purchases.

And last but probably the most important, locate all the HomeGoods in your area and visit the stores often. Great items and prices.

Please keep us updated!

Our bedroom is a smoky blue color, though I can't remember the name. I love it. We have cherry wood furniture and bright white trim around the windows and moldings.

This isn't our room... but very similar.
