What color furniture with headboard

Redoing my whole room.
Found a gray velvet tufted headboard that I love but I'm completely at a loss as to what color furniture would go with it.
At first I was thinking mirrored furniture but I don't think DH will love and I'm worried its a fad...

Black?
Cherry?
mirrored?
I don't really want white bedroom furniture.

What color are your walls? You could get a greywashed wood.

Any color. Gray is a neutral.
Cherry would warm it up, black is kind of harsh and I hate how it shows every speck of dust.

It depends on your style but I’ve seen it all different ways

With mirrored furniture for Extra glam

White/light wood/oak color furniture for more of a French country feel

Washed gray wood w metal clasp edges for a more rustic feel

Dark espresso wood for a lot of contrast/maturity

I haven’t seen it with cherywood so I’m not sure how it would go.

I know it's not the same, but we just got DS gray wood furniture and it looks AMAZING. We get so many compliments on it.

I have a greyish taupe velvet tufted headboard and we have dark brown wood furniture. The wall the headboard is on is an accent wall, navy blue, so it pops.
