Comfortable, but more stylish, sneakers
Does this exist?
I actually have issues with sneakers hurting my feet. Believe it or not. Sketchers give me severe ball of foot pain on the first step I take and I am not even exaggerating that a little. One step and my balls of my feet are throbbing.
So even for a good walking/gym type shoe I have issues. I found a pair of New Balance that are actually comfortable to walk in. But they aren't exactly shoes you'd wear with shorts or jeans.
Now I am not one to wear sneakers with shorts or jeans on a normal basis but lately for trips we have been taking in the summer we have been doing a lot of walking- Hershey Park, Jersey Shore where we walked a mile to breakfast every morning, etc. My Croc flip flops are awesome to walk in, but not for that much walking. Over a mile is no good in them.
So I need a walking shoe that i can wear with jeans or shorts that won't look ridiculous.
Because the New Balance I do have are comfy, I ordered another style New Balance, that were very cute and looked cute on the model in shorts. My bad, they were terribly uncomfortable when they arrived. I should have known a different style wouldn't be the same but I was hopeful since I had luck with New Balance.
So back to the drawing board.
Shoes like Chucks are out- I need more support and I have a wider foot.
Any ideas?

I think we have the same feet. I cannot wear Converse, but I love New Balance.
I really like Vans.

These are super cute on. Not sure if they will work for your feet -- but maybe? Read the reviews?

Re: Comfortable, but more stylish, sneakers
I bought these sneakers which are comfortable but are pricy - got them in the blush color and was able to wear them with a lot more than I thought. The only thing is I feel like you would need to try on shoes.
Royal Blush
These Sperry's I find super comfortable - they have a padding where the arch of your foot is. I can't find the exact style but I am assuming their sneakers will be the same.
Nike Air Max are super comfy but that may not be cute enough lol

AH, some great ideas. Love some of these. I will check them out.
I do need to try them on, but a lot of places of free returns so it's no risk

I also recommend Nike Flip Flops, my husband got them for me a few weeks ago and they are so comfy.

I like Bobs and Champion brands. They both have laceless sneakers too which I prefer with jeans/capris.

Re: Comfortable, but more stylish, sneakers
I suggest going to a sneaker store like Road Runner and trying on lots of different sneakers to find what works for you. Level 4 or 5 sneakers. The sales people are very knowledgeable there.

Re: Comfortable, but more stylish, sneakers
I like Ryka sneakers, New Balance come in second.
Ryka are designed to fit a woman't foot so they fit better, and many styles come in wide widths. But - not every sneaker fits the same way. I have some 10, some 10-1/2, some wide, some not wide. All depends upon they style of the sneaker.
I started wearing sneakers more often after my knee replacements. Needed something with more support and more stability. Sketchers are ok for a little while, but for my daily walk from Penn to Grand Central, they don't cut it.

Re: Comfortable, but more stylish, sneakers
Like someone else suggested you may want to go to a running store for a proper measurement and fit. Once you know what type of sneaker you need it is easier to find a style that you like.
With that said I like Brooks, New Balance, Saucony. I can not wear Nike or anything like Sketchers or Bobs.
For a more "fashion" sneaker I really like Vans. I thought they would be heavy or uncomfortable I can wear them for long periods of time and pretty far distances.
Also, a lot of my friends swear by Clarks Flip Flops. There is also a brand called Fit Flop that several of my co-workers wear especially when we are working at conventions. They don't work for me but I have a narrow foot. Since you can wear Crocs these might be better options with more support.

What about getting a pair of inserts from the Dr. Schols kiosk? They have them BBB, Walmart, etc. You step on the pad and it tells you the best insert for you. I've been using them for 2 years and they make any shoe comfy. Except high heels....nothing makes those torture devices comfy.

Naturalizer makes some pretty comfy sneakers- not really sporty ones, more stylish and they are really comfy. They have both slip on and laces versions.
