What are your DDs (ages 8-10) being for Halloween?
I need some suggestions for DDs costume. She has no idea what she wants to be but said maybe something scary. She is in 4th grade this year so she won't wear her costume to school so I can do face makeup etc that I couldn't when she wore the cosyume at school.

My daughter (she's 8) is going to be a zombie cheerleader...she specifically wanted a "fear leader" costume she saw so that's what we're doing.

DD is also being a zombie cheerleader.
At first I thought she wanted to be the girl from the movie Zombies, but nope!

My DD was 10 last year and was a few things for various Halloween stuff. On Halloween she was a day of the dead skeleton girl with that colorful face paint. It came out pretty cool! My favorite was a Starbucks Frappacino for her school dance. It was pretty clever and cute! Actually it was a latte...I am not savvy with Starbucks drinks

They stopped at 4th grade in my sons school as well. I think its because the parade is only for prek -3rd, so it doesn't make sense to have older kids dressed up. It is a dress down day for them.
He still dressed up after school and went trick or treating.

My son’s school stops the Halloween parade in 4th too. Many parents tried last year to convince the school to allow the 4th and 5th grade to do it as well. Unfortunately it came down to the teachers saying there wasn’t enough time to allow them Now that I have a child in 4th, I feel like it took the pressure off a bit finding the perfect costume to wear for it. (Will only wear it to the Halloween dance and trick or treating). O and he’s being a Fortnite character LOL

Not enough time to allow them to be kids for an hour or less - let me guess- because they are so busy preparing them for a meaningless state test.

My DD is 7 and she is going to be a Unicorn.
Our elementary school doesn't allow the kids to dress up. They host a Halloween party the Friday night before Halloween where the kids can dress up. On the day of Halloween they usually have a class party and are encouraged to wear Orange and Black.

Seriously. Not enough time?!?! These kids are 9/10 years old FFS. And it’s an hour.
What happens if your kid gets the flu? Do they get left back from missing a few days of school? Not get accepted to Harvard Law School? Ridiculous.

Yes exactly! I now have a 4th grader and the amount of times I heard about “the test” at back to school night was ridiculous! They are seriously only doing science for the first half of the year and no history so that they cover everything on the test. 3rd grade wasn’t too bad, but 4th is just ridiculous.

#optout This is exactly why it's important to opt out. To send a message that this is utter horseshit
