Barbara C Wilson or Variety
My son is currently at Roslyn Trinity Coop and the teacher recommended that he do an evaluation. Long story short, the evaluation lands him in a center based program. I visited BCCS NHP, Barbara C Wilson, Variety (in Syosset), and ACDS. BCCS NHP and ACDS have immediate openings through a new state approved program so between the two, I only heard from ACDS so he will be starting in two weeks. I am hoping to switch him in the Fall to the either Variety or BCW because I feel the environment at ACDS is a bit overwhelming.
The evaluation concludes that he has mild autism, poor eye contact (which I disagree with), lack of social skills, and delayed speech and language. I truly believe that the social skills will come into play once the speech and language has emerged so my main focal point is speech for him.
Between BCW and Variety, I am at a standstill as to which is better for him for speech. Any recommendations?

Re: Barbara C Wilson or Variety
My dc attended Variety I can't say if one is better than the other. I think it really comes down to what your child's needs are (ABA, language based class, integrated) When you toured the schools did they offer any feedback on what type of class he would be placed in?
Another positive to Variety was the open door policy. That played a huge part in our decision. Having the opportunity to observe dc's class in progress made me feel more comfortable. I know many who sent their kids to BCW and loved it as well. Good Luck
