Serious Skin Help!
I’m 38 and my skin is the worst it’s ever been. Cystic acne, dry small patches, sagging skin. I can’t bear to look at myself. I got a prescription for the acne which hasn’t worked. What’s everyone recommend to tackle this horrible combo of issues....

Re: Serious Skin Help!
I had cystic acne in my early 20s after never having acne as a teen. It left me with pitted scars and bad texture issues to this day. What cleared it was a few rounds of oral antibiotics (minocycline) and Differin gel ( which is now available without a prescription).
The Differin may also help the aging issues as it is a form of Retin A.
I have been taking Silicia drops (Biosil) which is supposed to help you build collagen. That may help with the sagging too. But it takes a long time to see results as you are building collagen

I used to get bad back and chest acne. I started using a Differin cleanser and it has helped immensely. I use the differin gel as needed.

Serious Skin Help!
I have HORRIBLE acne at 30... it’s worse than a teenager going through puberty. I have been using Murad. It helped before but it’s not working right now. I just started on doxycycline. The dermatologist wanted me to try accutane but I don’t feel there is enough info long term on effects or it’s impact on child bearing (not sure if we are done having kids). I’m also trying to be religious with changing my pillow case every night.

I honestly think that regular facials will help. My sister, who even took acutane, had facials- and it was the only thing to help

I really like the skincare from The Ordinary. If you go to their site, you can fill out a form with your skin concerns and they will send you a skincare routine. Prices are very good! No frills. No scents.

Re: Serious Skin Help!
You can also try an elimination diet & see if your skin improves. I've read that dairy can sometimes cause cystic acne as well as eczema.
Google cystic acne & diet & a lot of info comes up

I had cystic acne for a while as well. The only thing that helped was clindamycin + benzoyl peroxide. My doctor said it worked better than the Differin. Retin A can also help. I agree with previous posters that change in diet, and stress level will also help. Drink lots of water.
