After my second baby the melasma has not gone away. It goes away in the winter, back in the summer. I do not wear makeup except for lipstick. I usually just deal with it in the summer and put on sunblock. But I want to try foundation to cover it. Any recommendations for a foundation that can cover it? I tried one and it made it look darker.

Re: Melasma mustache

I think you need to use a concealer- not just a foundation.
Go for a concealer that is a shade lighter too- to lighten it up.
I hear Shape Tape is a great one.

My SIL has this and went to the dermatologist. She got a cream that's been working very well for her.

I was just reading about this. Someone suggested a vit c serum and if you are out in the sun you should stop your skin care routine if you use any acid products.

I have the same problem due to birth control pills. The sun is the worst enemy. It got so bad I had to stop the pill for a few months because nothing would help. My dermatologist would do mild chemical peels and I would exfoliate every so often and I'm very vigilant with sunscreen everyday including winter. I'm using a product from Paula's Choice that contains hydroquinone but there's mixed reviews because too much of it can be harmful

Re: Melasma mustache

Do a search on Youtube for covering melasma.

You either need a heavy duty foundtion like Estee Lauder Double Wear Maximum coverage, or you need a pecah toned corrector ( usually marketed as "brightening") underneath skin toned conceaerl, or foundation. It may stake some trial and error to get the color & consistancy you like.
