New dishwasher, bad smell

We got an LG dishwasher a few months ago.
From the beginning I noticed an awful smell every time I opened it to put dishes in.

I chalked it up to the dirty dishes sitting in there and festering until I ran it.

I tried the rinse and hold- no help.

The thing is, even when the dishes are clean - it stinks in there.
I ran it yesterday. Opened it today to put the dishes away and there is that same odor (maybe not as strong but still there) and the glasses smell off to me.

This is a brand new dishwasher.

Any idea what this can be?

Maybe hidden mildew ?
Try running a hot cycle or two with just white vinegar, and wipe down the door gasket with vinegar as well.

There should be a trap that you can unscrew at the bottom of the dishwasher with a filter. You should take the filter out and clean it. Also, once in a while you should throw in a cleaning packet (once a year or every six months if you feel fancy) and run it to wash your dishwasher. They sell them at target.

I would check the gasket under the door. I did not even know it existed.
