Is Party City closing?
I've heard this rumor and would want to stock up before my daughter's bday party. Anyone have any info?

Re: Is Party City closing?
About a month ago they said due to the helium shortage they will be closing some stores. I don’t think they said where or when.

Re: Is Party City closing?
They closed a huge store by me in Westchester. I went 8 times the last week they were open when the whole Store was 95% off. I can’t even tell you how much stuff I bought. I was going for over a month when things were 70-80% off but once it hit 95% I went nuts. The lines were awful...1+ hours long because everyone was buying those loose party favors and each one had to be scanned. I wish I could post a picture of one of my shopping trips but posting pics on here is impossible.

Re: Is Party City closing?
Well, they should close more. I know jobs are lost, etc., but helium is needed for more important things (MRI, airbags) than balloons.
Party City’s main business, IIRC, is balloons. Those stupid balloons are bad for the environment as well. They really should be banned.
If Party City can recreate their business without balloons, then game on.

Really balloons are Party City's main business??? I had no idea! I have never bought a balloon in my life but I shop at party city all the time.

I'm at party city monthly and never buy balloons except for my kids birthday. The holidays alone...i spend a fortune and not one balloon.

Same They are SOOO much more than balloons. Why would they close over a helium shortage. There has to be more to it.

Maybe there is more to it. I don’t know. But helium is a limited resource. I’m pretty sure it is their main business.

I would also think balloons were their main business. I don’t think I’ve been there in recent years unless I needed balloons for something and that’s only because you can’t order inflated balloons online.
Brick and mortar stores are closing left and right regardless of what they sell.

Re: Is Party City closing?
It's not surprising since a lot of stores are closing, can't compete with online. I've only been to Party City for balloons. I found that their items are pricey so I don't go there for anything else really.

My daughter has every princess costume, we have family costumes Of ghostbusters, Star Wars, dr seuss, 8000000 rolls of gift wrap, pool floats, beach balls, 3 huge storage bins of toys and party favors, don’t even get me started on paper goods. Everything was a penny to maaaybe 35 cents.
I bought cute little toys for when she starts potty training, or when she behaves. I’m all about bribery. Even those big foil bags that have floor puzzles of hello kitty were 5 cents! How could I not buy the entire store? ??

I would have gone crazy also They have so many good things and being in the store is difficult to resist with those prices.
