Can you block posts from anyone on instagram without them knowing?
We have a family member who is stalking our profiles and feeding info on what we do to others in the family to stir up drama... long story lol.
Anyway, this is a family member and we obviously cannot remove them completely from our friends lists. I know you can monitor which posts are seen by others on FB, but what about instagram? I'm at the point where I may just remove my social media accounts, but I am on community pages and stuff for my neighborhood and don't really want to lose that source of information as it's very helpful.

Unfortunately I don't believe there is a way to do this while still letting them technically follow you. You'd have to officially remove them from your followers list.
If they are causing drama and sharing info with people you don't want knowing about you, why not just remove them. What can they really say about that??

Funny you bring this up. I see posts from people that I don't follow on instagram all the time. How do I stop that from happening? I only instagram for my business. But I don't follow this person on instagram and I don't see any posts from them on facebook.

I don't think you can do it on Instagram. I wouldn't delete my accounts because of others. I would just remove the person and make the account private, so only followers could see my posts.

You can block them - it'll be like your account completely disappeared. If you're private, you can also do a "soft block" which is when you block them and then immediately unblock them - it forces them to unfollow you & they may think they just unfollowed by accident.

That’s a good idea
Although when you block someone it doesn’t look like the account disappears it just says “no posts yet” so technically they can tell if you blocked them...

However, if someone is causing drama and using your posts to do it, I would just remove them from my friend list and move one. What are they going to do? Call you out on removing them? Then you can tell them why...

What did we do before social media? How did family drama survive and thrive?
I know it existed? But how much more difficult it must have been to stir and create drama before the advent of the great technology we have today! Back then you had to actually call people up to gossip about them. Our kids will never know what it was like!

This is exactly what i was going to say. If you are willing to delete the acct but dont want to lose your local community group, just keep it and dont post personal stuff.

This is exactly what i was going to say. If you are willing to delete the acct but dont want to lose your local community group, just keep it and dont post personal stuff.
yep that's basically what I'm going to do now. Was just looking to see if there's an alternative to that.

I’ve unfriended and blocked family members before. My dad’s side of the family is notorious for acting like a-holes on the Internet. I don’t care. No one has brought it up and if they did I would let them know why. I don’t have time for drama.

Same! I also don't have alot of family as friends on my social media pages and don't care to add them for the nosey reasons.
