cell phones... they are costing me an arm and a leg... help
talk to me about less expensive options, please.
i'm currently with Verizon. i've been with them since 2005. it's embarrassing how much i spend on wireless service.
if i'm going to get serious about my finances, i need to make a change about this.

Maybe look into a Trac phone type deal where you prepay for a certain amount and just top it off as needed? You'd probably have to cut your usage down but it's doable I bet

Both DW and DS (and my mom) are on Tracfone. They mainly text with their phones, and go on-line when there's wi-fi.
Texts are $5 for 1000, and you can buy as many minutes/MB of data that you need. As long as you aren't a heavy user, it's very affordable.

Before going the trac phone way -- you might want to look into prices from Tmboile or Sprint. They are both significantly less than Verizon.

Look into your local internet/cable provider. They have good deals and might run off of Verizon towers.

We have metropcs. We had to pay for phones, but service is less than $50/month for 2.

I have Straight Talk for over 10 years. My phone runs on Verizon towers and I pay $50 a month with taxes included. Unlimited. No issues at all!

I have had boost mobile for years. I pay $35 unlimited talk, text, and data. I pay out of pocket for the phone and a usually go with a Samsung model that lasts me a few years. I try not pay over $150 for my phones and only upgrade to a new phone when they really aren’t wo4king that well anymore...

I have switched to Sprint and am very happy. We had to add my tween daughters and it was costing a fortune with Verizon.

The kicker is, Straight Talk uses Verizon towers for most of their Samsung model phones. Some use AT&T and some T Mobile. I've always had Galaxy phones, so have always run on Verizon.
I should add, you can't roam though. So if you are out of the United States, your cell service won't work. There is no option to pay extra, etc. Wifi still works of course, so I use "textfree" app (free) which allows me to still text and call people when I'm out of the country, if I need to

My husband and i bought unlocked Iphones from our local used phone dealer and use Metropcs for years now. We only pay $50 a month. They use T-mobile service and we never had a complaint

Yes Verizon is expensive. But we just upgraded our phones so I'm not sure how it works now with switching, if we have to wait 2 years until our phones are paid off...

Hubby and I both have tracfone for about the last 5 years. We pay $129 for a year of service and a new phone. I am a heavy text/data user so I will buy additional as the year goes by but in all the years we have been using them I have never spent more than $200 for an entire year of service (that includes a new phone yearly). It's a great plan and super affordable. They run on verizon. I have my home phone forward to my cell and it is the primary # for my business. So it can get a lot of usage at times.
