Winter jackets
I started looking at winter jackets for my kiddos and was wondering, how much do I really need to spend to get a durable warm jacket /coat? Northface is not in the budget but on average how much do you spend? I was looking at an $80 ( sale price) Lands End jacket for my 9 year old son.

Winter jackets
I spent $60 on what seemed like the warmest coat gap offered for my 7yo. Then today I grabbed a children's place 3 in 1 for my kindergartener for $25 at Marshall's. For years I've exclusively bought osh kosh heavyweight coats and I've always loved them so hopefully I don't regret trying something different this year.

The Children's place 3-in-1 jackets hold up really well (mine lasted for 3 seasons (2 winters with one kid, and 1 winter with the second one but only because he grows faster than the oldest does LOL) and you can usually get them for under $40. they're great because they can have it as a fleece, or a light coat, or as a heavy coat. definitely worth the money!

I get the Lands End coats for my kids. They hold up well. The Children’s Place ones are good too but the Lands End are less bulky.
The one I got is on sale today for $60.

Re: Winter jackets
I get the gap kids jackets when they are 50% off and I size up to get two year out of one coat. I have purchased Costco 3 in 1 winter coats too, but my kids prefer the warmest ones from the gap. I also purchased the land end ones but they were bulky and my kids did not like that, but they were warm.

I get the Lands End when it's on sale with a 40% off code and I size up. The one she has now she has been wearing going on 3 years. LOL She doesn't grow much.

Re: Winter jackets
Lands end i have never spent more than $40 on coat and it was the year where it was close to 40.
I try to shop when they have sales, summer is best I shop clearance too. and like PP i do size up so they can wear it for 2 years but in the long I usually spend like $25 so I dont care too much if its only used for one season

Same! And the coats hold up well - I pass along to DS2 and then my cousins children.
My older DS barely wears a coat anyway, it's mainly just to play in the snow, he wears sweatshirts most of the time and I got him a heavier fleece.

DD has the lands end squall and I hate it. It may have been because she was younger but her hands used to get stuck in the fleece cuffs, it was a PITA to zip. She wore it for 2 years and I don’t care if it still fits, she’s not wearing it again.
She had that millennial pink parka from the gap that every little girl had last year and it was much, much better. I also like the uniqulo jackets and H&M has some cute coats this year.

Target 3 in 1. I usually get 2 years out of it except for the time he threw it on the counter and it landed on a candle and it melted and shriveled up.

Re: Winter jackets
Our go to coats have been ski jackets that we bought in sale at the end of season a few years ago. They have been worn for at least 2-3 years now. They are super high quality and under $100 (on sale). Our kids all ski... so we get them anyway & simplify our life by having one item.
We are going to buy new ones when the season begins again (they have sales of last year’s stuff).
The other coat that I loved were the Boden coats. They were super warm and durable and lasted 2 years per child (and were in good condition to hand down).
