Has anyone used NextDoor?
Has anyone used or is familiar with NextDoor?
I got a letter in the mail from someone in my neighborhood to sign up for NextDoor.
It is a "private online network" where you share "recommendations, items for sale, safety updates local events etc" Sounds interesting.
You have to sign up to even view it. I prefer to know what I am signing up for first, and become suspicious of data-mining.
Does anyone have experience with this site?

Has anyone used NextDoor?
Yes, I am on it and quite a few people I know. It's a legit app and pretty useful. it has a feed similar to facebook. I like it.

Our neighbor started it, its not too active, but it is legit. Lots of people asking for cleaning people and handymen. I think our town FB page is more helpful.

We got a letter for this, too. I assumed it was a scam and threw it out.

It is very active where I live, but I don't live in NY. It is great for business/restaurant recommendations and info about area activities.

Same, very active where we live. Useful at times and the occasional drama keeps it interesting.

My town’s is so ridiculous I had to delete it. They act like every person coming to the door is a possible felon and police should be called.

How do they verify your information?
I don't have any social media (no Facebook, etc) so I am not familiar with this.
If its only for YOUR neighborhood, how do they verify it? Can I fake an address and sign up for a neighborhood I want to move into? (so I can see whats happening there, etc)

Looks like they do it via your cell phone’s billing address.
I was on it for a little while but I left. It was more like “NextDoor to Karens” for me.

lol. i love to watchpeople complain about every store thtat is going to open. 'Why do we need *that* in *this* neighborhood?!"
I didn't give my phone#- I used a code one the flyer I received. You do need to sign up with your real name & address--your full name & your neighborhood show to others. I don't think you can fake it. If you want to ask about a neighborhood, reddit might be better.
