$1000 They just saved you hundreds in tux rental, dress purchase and bridal shower gifts you would have shelled out. I think that's the perfect amount.
Actually, I kind of think you would give less based on that reasoning. Yes, when you go to a bridal shower and wedding, you bring a gift and you have to get a dress, etc. But, it's a social event and you get to have a nice time. So your costs associated with it are part of the cost of going out. It kind of annoys me to give the same gift and not even get to go to the party. Just a different perspective.
I'd actually give double to not have to go to an actual catering hall wedding so yeah....

Re: $$$ GIFT
My siblings who came to my wedding ...
My sister, her husband and son gave me $1,000. Was one of my matrons of honor She also threw my bridal shower
My brother, his wife and 2 of his daughters (his little one was flower girl) gave me $600
My brother, who didn’t come to the wedding gave me a $500 gift from him and his wife.
Hoping this helps some

Re: $$$ GIFT
$500 is perfect - I'd do cash or check.

$$$ GIFT
I gave $1000 for BIL/ SIL when they got married, give what you can afford. Any gift should be accepted with gratitude so I wouldn’t worry!
