Disney VIP Tour Guide - Is it worth it?
Has anyone used a Disney guide, and was it worth it?
They say they can “keep you on the fast pass lines”, but how can they really do that? You’re only allowed so many fast passes.
Thanks for any info!

Disney VIP Tour Guide - Is it worth it?
it's like $500/hr with a minimum of 7 hours for the tour. I don't think spending that kind of money is ever worth it. Spending close to $4000 for one park day tour is nuts. I paid $4500 for my hotel, meal plan and park tickets for 5 nights and 6 days!

I don't think it's worth it. Maybe if I had lots and lots of money I didn't need for anything else. The tour guide just takes you into the fast pass lane, so you aren't limited by which passes you can book.

I paid $3400 for 7 days, 6 nights all food, hotel and flights included. We got on every single ride in every park without doing anything fancy. Definitely not worth that price tag!!

You also need park hoppers if you’re going to more than one park, so that adds to the cost...it might be worth it if you had limited time and a large group that was dividing the price tag. This does not have the 3 initial fast pass per day limit. From what I have read you give them a list of rides and they drive you through backstage ways and get you through the fast pass lines...I believe if your tour is ending around a nighttime fireworks or show they can arrange for you to see that to.

You are escorted through the line by a Disney Cast member, so that's how you get fastpass for everything. If visiting and riding things that are hard to get a fastpass for (Avatar stuff, Toy Story Land, Star Wars....not sure if they have opened up the ride to VIP tours yet), then it's worth it IF you have the money to burn. Some people pair up with others to make a larger group and split the cost (I see this in the FB groups for Disney).

Re: Disney VIP Tour Guide - Is it worth it?
I’ve never used a guide (I really don’t mind waiting and using FP system)... but I know many families who did.
Most used private VIP services... some used the Disney ones for a half day. All said it was worth the $$$. BUT I think it depends on when you go (is it peak season?) and if you have that $$$ to spend in a day. Rate I heard was about $1000 a day for a family of 4. The family wanted to do it because a member had a surgery a few days before the trip... which wasn’t really planned.
Personally, for $1000, I’d add an extra day or 2 to my trip and go slow... but if you are only there for a limited time... I never heard anyone regret the VIP guide.

Re: Disney VIP Tour Guide - Is it worth it?
I know one family that did it, and loved it. They spend a lot on family travel, at least $30,000 a year, so this was not a big deal to them. They just got back from a month in Kuala Lumpur and Papa New Guinea. Last year was a month in Australia. If this is the kind of lifestyle your family lives, I could see it being reasonable, but if you are on the $5,000 family vacation fund, then this might be a big stretch for you and I would not spend my money on this, but maybe this is your life dream. However, I would splurge for the concierge level at the disney hotel as the amount of food given makes it worthwhile.

my neighbor has done this twice- for her children's sweet 16's she let her daughter bring 2 friends and they do a private tour - she loves the tours and yes you cut every line and you see the underground tunnel system, she thinks it's worth it.

Re: Disney VIP Tour Guide - Is it worth it?
I am responding a little late here but we did this for my 40th birthday. It was amazing! It was so much fun and we loved our guide. She gave us such great Disney info and was so fun to hang out with and by the end knew so much about our group. That being said, we had a party of ten and it was a special occasion. Not sure I could stomach the price tag normally. I think the times it could be worth it are when it’s a special occasion, if it’s a short trip that you want to pack a lot into, or if you take advantage of a lot of the perks instead of doing extras like dessert parties or parade packages because with the VIP tour you can get preferred viewing spots for parades and firework shows and those kind of extras add up. We did three parks and got on even more rides than we planned. We also got to go on the Star Wars ride when it was new and didn’t have fast pass which was cool. I think it could also be worth it if you have certain rides you want to ride multiple times. If you have an older group, another option could be an after hours party. Some of them are supposed to be pretty good and decent value. I have read good things on the AK after hours as well as the Villains one. The other thing is that the guides are smart about how to plan the time to maximize what you get to do so one of the rides fast pass was backed up because of an issue with the ride and she knew what the issue was and when it might clear and had us do something else and come back after. She was in constant communication with the other guides around the parks so she knew which rides were down and if fast pass lines were really long which ones she could take us in through the exit instead. It was a really interesting experience. It’s a tiring day though. We were all exhausted by the end. I would love to do it again some day but would need the right group to merit the spend.
