Tell me about Long Johns

Believe it or not I have never owned a pair. Overheard people raving about it at soccer today. Thin ones. Do you wear it under regular everyday clothes? I would think it would make me uncomfortable if I am wearing jeans with something underneath it. Any specific long johns you like?

I can't handle bulk of any kind so no way could I wear something under my clothes, especially pants, like that.
Almost all of my clothes are pretty form fitting too so I don't see how they would work for me without sizing up in all my clothes.
I'd rather just wear a heavier jacket etc

The work well under sweats or looser clothes. I typically wear skinny jeans and couldn’t imagine them under that.

My mom grew up in a house with no heat upstairs. It must have scarred her. She gives each of us a pair of long johns every year. I really only wear them for super cold or shoveling snow. I give them away every year. Lol

The only person I’ve ever heard talk about long johns is my dad and I just thought he was talking about historical garb like a crazy old man.

Now that I know what they are it makes sense if you’re going to be outside in cold weather. But as you can guess, no, I’ve never worn them

Silk. Thin enough to wear under clothing without adding bulk. I have traditional ones for when I shovel snow.

I have thin ones - I think they are Cuddle Duds from kohl’s. They are comfy under jeans and regular clothes. I only wear them though if it’s cold and I will be outside for awhile - playing in the snow, sporting events.

My DH and I went to Iceland last year and we wore long johns under our clothes (ridiculously cold there) and OMG, what a life changer it was for me. The silk thin ones do keep you warm and and add no bulk. On cold days, when I'm outside a lot, I can wear them under jeans. Of course, there is no need to wear them when I'm not really going to be outside. Actually, sometimes, I do wear them as pj bottoms.

We wear them skiing or snow tubing, or sledding. I can't imagine just wearing them out and about.

My husband has some he wears in the house sometimes by themselves and I can’t stand it, he looks like he wearing leggings and they are skin night bright blue from under armor lol

i love long johns.

once i discovered the really thin ones, i've never looked back.

yes, i now live in southern california and i still have a pair. granted, i don't wear them anywhere near as often as i did living in nyc or nj.

now, i use them for when we go camping for thanksgiving.

when i lived in the northeast, i would wear them with slightly looser fitting clothes and loved them. they are especially wonderful for outdoor events like the lighting of the tree at rockefeller center, ice skating in central park, the macy's thanksgiving day parade, etc.

I wear them all the time. At work there could be times I'm outside for over 10 hrs just standing in one spot so I'm the master at layering up. I've worn under armour cold gear as a base layer and then fleece on top of that and then my work clothes. It's so bulky but it's not even enough for bone chilling temps. And even when I'm not working and just doing errands or running around outside and in I'm so used to wearing a layer under my clothes including top and bottom long johns, that I don't feel comfortable without them. I get cold so easy
