Best place to ask for donations

My school is having a PTA BINGO night fundraiser where we auction off a lot of gifts from local businesses, GC's, etc.

Any other ideas that are good to auction off or places that are generous with donating?

I am in NJ so no local LI places will help.

So far I have gotten GC's from local restaurants, boutque's, etc.
I have contacted NJ Devils, Nets, Jets, etc.
We were able to get Mets tix and Yankees.

I am trying to think outside of the box. We will get Hershey tickets as well bc I do a school fundraiser and they give free tickets for every 10 tickets sold.

Thanks!

We usually have members at local country clubs ask if they can get the club to donate foursomes of golf. Those usually go for a good amount if there are men going to the event.

Also does anyone have a vacation home or timeshare that they would be willing to donate for a week?

Oh also see if you can get any local birthday party venues to donate a basic party.

Try donationmatch.com they have Medieval Times on there. I know my pfa has gotten tickets for that.

If you have an Urban Air in NJ there is a form on their website to fill out.

Last year I was able to get Dorney Park tickets there online submission doesn't start to Feb. 1. I called local hotels near there and they generously donated a 2 night stay.

Crayola Experience is another place I have gotten tickets. I put that with the dorney park tickets and hotel as one of my higher priced raffles. Weekend away in PA.

Do you mind sharing how you got the mets and yankees tickets? I emailed the yankees and have not heard anything back.

Try walmart, target.

I am in the process now of soliciting donations for a scout event and I have gotten so many rejections this year. It's sad.

One more. Ring Doorbells - [email protected]. They only give to schools.

Re: Best place to ask for donations

what about your local Trampoline or jump zone kind of places for kids?

movie theaters?

Wawa does a gift basket. you have to apply through their online donor portal and they minimally need 3 weeks.

painting places?

Sesame place is another one to try.

depending on where you are in NJ the Trenton Thunder also has an online form to fill out. They sent me tickets last year for a church carnival.

I have been on both sides of this so I know that it is depressing soliciting donations and not getting, but as a former small business owner I wasn't making any money as it was so to give things away was very difficult. I did end up doing it because I wanted to support my community but my generosity definitely hurt my bottom line. As much as I wanted to believe it was good advertising and good will I found it did very little on either front.

Thank you for sharing your side of it as a small business owner. You would hope it would bring in more business. As someone collecting thank you for trying to help out your community.

Maybe try a local dance school, or a salon. Something free would potentially draw in a new customer.

Re: Best place to ask for donations

I am running one for a school as well. We have had a lot of luck messaging local companies on Facebook and sending mail directly to stores. The corporate stores needed more information and had us complete forms online.

In our area it’s been harder this year. Local salons, karate studios, dance studios and summer camps usually donate.

Sadly I agree. I have donated gift certificates, and free stationery items, other merch that I sell and it NEVER translated into any return of investment for me. So I totally get that side of it

Best place to ask for donations

All of the above suggestions are great. In addition to those, we get Disney Park Hopper Passes, GCs from local landscapers, Port Jeff Ferry, Splish Splash. Great Wolf Lodge, Hotels in the area, Gyms - tennis lessons, speed training, etc. We also hit up businesses for sponsorships like the local real estate agents, insurance agents, etc.

Absolutely this - even for bigger businesses it's really hard to give away product.

I've also been inundated with donation requests lately with 15 yesterday alone! It's impossible to donate, or even respond, to everyone.
