Now there's a shortage of tests and supplies because everyone and their mom "needs" to be tested for the virus. I was watching the news last night and they were interviewing the people lined up to be tested in their cars. One kid went to the grocery store and has had a runny nose since, so his mom thinks he needs a test. Another woman drove a long time to get to the testing site because she "just needs to know". If you can sit all day in your car waiting to be tested, you don't need a test. Your symptoms aren't severe enough. Stay home and rest.

This is not surprising. I think people will also use this as an excuse to be out and about. I was tested. I don't have it. I can go here and there.
They had to see this coming.

Why are they even entertaining these people? I understand they’re nervous but honestly they should take everyone’s temperature and if you don’t have a fever then you don’t get a test. I would assume if you were in such bad shape you would be taken to the hospital and not drive to Jones Beach to sit in your car for three hours.
The celebrities are the worst. It’s almost like a badge of honor to test positive and then tell everyone all of the ridiculous symptoms you had but how you feel absolutely fine.

Someone on my FB feed posted how she went to get tested because she's high risk. She went on to say how easy it was and she was able to get a test even though she had no symptoms. This is such a waste of a test not to mention that supplies are limited you are wasting resources that are in short supply like the masks, gowns and gloves that are used by the people who are doing the testing.

I thought you had to call for am appt and answer questions?
I thought in Nassau and Suffolk they have it set up that way.
And a runny nose is a sign of a cold. Not this virus.
It doesn't present with a runny nose. People are nuts.

And a runny nose is a sign of a cold. Not this virus.

My county has already run out of tests. I believe it happened on Wednesday or Thursday. At this point, they are only testing people who are in critical condition. You know the ones who are not out and about spreading it.
In an ideal situation, we would be mass testing to keep the spread under control like they are doing in Asia. We had 2+ months to get supplies for this disaster, but instead our government buried their heads in the sand and viewed it as "China's problem". Why have we not been mass producing tests, PPE, and ventilators since JANUARY? Our government is a DISGRACE and has failed us terribly. I am not just talking about Trump, WTH was everyone else doing as well. I am disgusted.

You know what sucks too is they probably can’t turn these people away. All they need is one death of someone who was turned away for there to be mass uprising. I think they should change it back to where you need to see a doctor first rather than calling on the phone. Doctor has to order a prescription for the test like do they do for xrays and everything else...

My county is turning them away. It will happen. There are not enough tests. Turn around time is always way too slow. At least 5-10 DAYS. People die before they even get the results.

Thank god for these testing sites, because otherwise these people would be taking up room in the ERs trying to get tested. My cousin is a hypochondriac and is dying to get tested... just because she wants to know. It's insane. She has no symptoms, but her neighbors daughters coworker might have been exposed. So maybe she has it and just has no symptoms. It's like she wants to be sick. I can't even begin to understand people.
