Anyone here have Covid-19?

I am curious to hear from people who have had it or live with/are close with anyone that has had it.

- Did you get tested, or did you decide to just stay home?
- Do you have any ideas where/how you caught the virus?
- What were your symptoms like?
- Anything else that could be helpful for us to know?

Thank god, no.

My cousin's DH is NYPD, just tested positive for COVID-19. Only symptom was loss of smell and taste.

Re: Anyone here have Covid-19?

No thank god.
DHs childhood friends DH is an ER dr. He tested + and had mild cold symptoms. My neighbors nephew works in law enforcement, he tested + and only lost smell and taste - no other symptoms . He got tested because he worked closely with someone who was +.

It just really surprises me how some people in their 30s-50s with no pre-existing conditions are dying, while others experience little to no symptoms

Re: Anyone here have Covid-19?

I don’t have it, but my sister just found out a lot of her in-laws have it.

There was a bday party for one of my sister’s nieces about two weeks ago. She and her H and family did not go, thank god.

My sister’s husband’s two brothers and their wives have it. My sister’s MIL has it. One of the brothers is currently in the hospital with pneumonia. He’s 55. No word on the others yet.

I’m not close with her in-laws, but I feel badly for my niece and nephews.

Stay inside people and don’t go to large gatherings.

Re: Anyone here have Covid-19?

I know people who have died. We left our old temple 2 years ago. The rabbi is in the hospital with pneumonia and covid. There was a 300 person party on March 2. I know many people who attended it, and we almost went. My son's teacher. Her husband passed. 3 other elderly members ages 80 and 90 passed. There are about 40 people from the temple who have it that I know. Some are now in the hospital. It sucks.

Re: Anyone here have Covid-19?

Thankfully no one in my family has it yet. 2 of my daughter’s coworkers have it, one with mild symptoms, the other not In good condition in the icu. It has been 12 days since my daughter was in direct contact with them, so we’re praying she escaped infection. One of my husband’s coworkers had all the symptoms, although mild, but was not able to get tested in NYC. Another one just started with symptoms. It has been over 2 weeks since he was with either of them thankfully. My niece is a first year medical resident who is currently under 14 day quarantine as the parent of one of her patients has it. Praying she is ok. Chat Icon

My cousin had it--the only reason why he got tested was because 4 people at his job had it and he battled cancer in the past--his only symptom was a fever. He's fine now.

Our friends parents and sister have it. The 3 of them live in the same household and the mother was exposed to someone who had it so brought it home that way and was sick first. All three have mild symptoms.

Omg how awful I'm so sorry! Chat Icon Chat Icon it scares me that young healthy people are hooked up to ventilators or dying. Originally the news out of China and Italy was that older people and people with compromised immune systems were at risk, but now I've been reading more and more that a large percentage of ICU patients are young healthy people. In France they make up more than half of patients. Chat Icon

my dad most likely has it.
His dr said it but said there was no reason to get tested and the hotline wouldnt let him get tested either Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
its almost impossible to get tested i fee like.

My dad had a cough, fever, extremely tired and started having trouble breathing but nothing serious enough to go to the hospital.

After 2 weeks he just started feeling better.

my mom has developed a cough and i am praying it doesn't get any worse than that because she is considered immune compromised

ETA: i really want them to get tested so I know if they had it or not. At least if I know they did they have the antibodies and I can stop worrying about them!!

But, we don't know if those people smoke or vape. Instances of pneumonia are a huge risk amongst smokers. So, when they so no pre-existing conditions, they should also include if they have smoked or vaped. Vaping is huge with younger adults also.

Anyone here have Covid-19?

I had it and am just now feeling better. I was not officially tested because my symptoms were considered mild to moderate. I did have two FaceTime appointments with Drs from NYP Queens, who both confirmed given the timeline and symptoms that I most likely had the virus. I had the following symptoms:

low grade fever that came and went
body aches that were painful to the point that not even Tylenol was helping
one of the worse headaches ever. The throbbing happening at the front of my head was almost unbearable.
I lost my complete sense of taste and smell. I still do not have them back 100%.
no energy what so ever. When I did try to get out of bed even to go brush my teeth, I was exhausted like I just worked all day.
I also was winded over the simplest task.

This coming Wednesday will be 2 weeks and so far knock on wood, neither of kids or DH are showing symptoms.

These are the exact symptoms one of my best friends had. Although she had vomiting one day. Also never went to the dr. They told her to manage the symptoms at home. And if her fever didn't break to call back. She took so many aspirin the fever broke and never showed again.
She started feeling it on 3/17 and on 3/27 she finally felt good enough to reach out to friends to let us know she was on the mend.
The worst part she said was the headache. She said she imagined its what getting hit the head with a bat feels like.

ETS: They believe her husband also had it. He started feeling it on 3/15. Had a cough and fever. He started to feel rundown. But not to the extent of my friend. Thankfully because he was able to take care of her. She was in pretty bad shape for a few days.
Neither of them had trouble breathing though.

They’re also saying being overweight/obese is a condition that can affect recovery.
