Yes we still do take out. I even ate Chinese before they sadly closed due to ignorant people.

I probably have the wrong take on this but I think most of us are going to get this sooner or later and I don't mind getting it over with. We're all at home, none of us are high risk, we're not seeing any elderly family members for a LONG time. I'm not super paranoid about picking it up.

If anyone thought Chinese food was higher risk due to that, maybe we do need some natural selection to take over this world and weed out some morons.

Re: Do you trust take out?

We trust our usual places. Unfortunately our diner and other favorites have temporarily closed. We went from eating out 4 to 5 days a week to once a week if that often since January. Some weeks are better than others. I am not much of a cook. My husband comes from a family restaurant and will cook, but he is getting tired of it.

So Saturday used to be our out to dinner religiously night and Friday used to be take out.
So now we are doing Friday (more casual take out) and Saturday (getting take out from the places we used to go out to dinner at if they are doing take out)

Sometimes during the week we'll get from the local Mediterranean place if DH is just over cooking

The sad thing is, so many Chinese owned business (restaurants and bakeries) were hit so hard by this early on. And I heard so many comments about staying away from Asian people. It was absolutely disgusting.

I used to feel that way but now I’m hearing of more and more people that aren’t high risk being hospitalized, and that’s just terrifying.

I hear you. I know you don't have to be high risk to get very ill or possibly die but your odds are extremely low. The way they're talking this is going to be around for a LONG time and vaccines are a year to 18 months away. This isn't just going to disappear so what are we supposed to do?? I guess hopefully they come up with some better treatment options.

Yeah but they aren't disclosing if those people are smokers or vape. So until we hear those statistics. I don't believe these are all perfectly healthy people that are just dying or in ICU. I mean of course healthy people do die from any illness . I know kids that almost died from the flu and they were seemingly healthy. But, I have a feeling smoking is a huge contributing factor with this. Especially when you take into account the very low death rate amongst children

I agree it is terrifying. I just learned of someone I knew passing -- 42 yrs old and perfectly healthy.
I also heard of an older person who owns a restaurant ive frequented passing away. His wife now has it as well.
Ive ordered out twice. Now if i do going fwd im going to reheat and replate. Prob wont for a while though.

I think I’ll feel better when we get over the hump. If you become ill during the expected peak in 1-2 weeks, and require hospitalization, it’s going to be bad.
In a few months hopefully hospitals will have enough equipment to help everyone that needs help without having to make choices.

Re: Do you trust take out?

I've been cooking a lot more than usual, but we've still gotten take out a bunch of times too. I'm not worried about it. Side note, I've noticed a lot of my hot food has been arriving a lot quicker than normal and super hot. Probably because less people are ordering.

Now I’ve completely lost my mind
There is no way I would get take out but that is just my personal feelings
I’m sure it is fine and they are taking extra precautions but I just can’t do it

Re: Do you trust take out?

I’ve stopped ordering take out/deliveries. It’s purely a money issue. I have food in my fridge, so I want to eat that first.

And a grammar correction: it’s fewer not less people. Had to do it. Sorry, not sorry.

OMG, I totally wasn’t singling you out! A few others made that mistake. It’s actually a common mistake that I correct here in Germany. They all make that mistake.

Education is going to be slowed down from all of this.
