I have not. At all. What are you doing that is working for you? Are you doing school work and then working yourself? How are you managing both?

Re: Working moms...have you figured out a groove yet?

Here’s our basic routine with 2 wfh parents and 1 st grader and pre-K

I wake at 6 and walk for an hour, shower and have breakfast. Then feed kids.
I start work before 8 and generally have meetings till 11/12. Then I feed lunch and do daughters math until 1/2. Back to work/meetings until 3/5. Then I help daughter finish up remaining schoolwork and cook dinner. This week I did some veggie prep this weekend to make that easier.

DH gets the kids dressed and starts school by 9:30. He typically does reading and one other assignment before I take over. My son has some kindergarten workbooks I got at a dollar store a long time ago. He usually takes the kids outside in the afternoon if it’s not raining.

So this varies depending on when me and DH have important meetings. We both go online after dinner and finish our work too. The kids are on the iPad/computer more than we like but we do the best we can.

Great question. No not really. Theoretically I do. But there are ask these other variables that change the day, like moods, appetites, technology. I'm trying though.

I basically have to be 'on' 8 to 3. I am doing tele-therapy with students most of the day, getting ready for sessions, talking with co-workers, and doing paperwork. My DH is working full time too (IT). My 5 year old son pretty much hangs out with me most of the day. I break for lunch around 12 or 1. When I am done at 3, we take the dog for a walk around the neighbor. Then it is time to do my son's kindergarten school work.

I get up early to get in 1-2 hours of work before school. On days my husband is home, he works with our second grader and I sit with our fourth grader who is working pretty independently - while he works, I work. On days he's not home, I spend 2 hours helping our second grader.

Then I work on and off the rest of the day until I get what's on my daily to do list done (or DH yells at me because it's nearing 9pm). Unfortunately we are pretty busy right now, we are in the middle of quarter end and audit - and I'm two days shy of 6 months at the company so it's a bit of a challenge right now. I have also been putting in a half day on weekends.

I feel like I don't have any break at all. And the slap in the face is that our teachers have to give 2 hours worth of time a week to answer questions. Fourth grade is interactive which is nice but, second grade has 30 minutes a day M-TH of "office hours" where we can email the teacher and she will answer. She may answer outside of that time but, more likely during office hours. IMO - she should be available to answer questions every morning since well, she's the teacher. I know they are busy setting up for the next day and then have their own children as well but two hours a week seem a little light.

No. Every day my 5 year old whines about doing work. You’d think I was torturing him. He has maybe 60 minutes of work per day. In between tantrums and whining, I’m trying to manage my 110 HS science students. Luckily, my school is encouraging lessons to be asynchronous so I record all my lessons on Saturday and Sunday and have everything set up for Monday.

DH and I have been having a "meeting" each night to go over who has meetings/calls when and then we plan the day from there.

Nope. It helps when my DH is actually home but otherwise I can't wait for this to end.

No. It’s awful. My husband is furloughed. I am working from home but I have an essential job which basically requires me to be on call and available from 8:30-4:30 and I may need leave the house immediately at any time during those hours. I usually print my daughters work from google class and upload the pics some time later in the day. My son is in pre-K and has zoom learning every day at 10, he has zooms with his OT and SEIT as well. Its just horrible. I can’t wait for some return to normalcy...

Working moms...have you figured out a groove yet?

HAHAHA
I am working from home (from like 8AM-8PM)- my job is nuts right now. I have DD (4th grade) home and she needs a lot of help with Google Classroom, plus she's got dyslexia & dysgraphia. She's our only child. DH is essential personnel in a hospital (not patient facing) and I'm losing my $hit every single day. He's working crazy hours. I'm working crazy hours. DD is bored, wants attention, needs help. I'm tired of cooking. I'm tired of the walls of my house. We try to go for walks, but I'm so busy, it's hard. We are having a hard time for the past 4 days. I am not feeling well- I'm pretty sure it's allergies, but I'm so paranoid I can't tell if I'm imagining symptoms. I hate this. I am trying to shut down for an hour around lunch, have lunch and work with DD. Then shut down at 530 for an hour- make dinner with DD. When DH comes home, I'm working again.

nope... not even close
some days I do better than others, it's hard my emotions are all over the place, some days I am able to get a lot done and am able to help my K and 2nd grader with google classroom a lot
Then there are days I get very little done with them and have to work with them later in the day. I try and go into my office 1 day a week- truthfully I need to be away from my kids for a bit, I know I could never be a SAHM it's just not me

Re: Working moms...have you figured out a groove yet?

Nope. I work 8-4 normally but WFH i am now working like 7-5pm most days, without a lunch. It's crazy. My husband is a police officer so 1/2 the time i'm on my own with the kids. I have 3 kids: 5, 8 and 11.

I feel like i'm failing at everything right now.

I start my 5 year old at 7:30. His work takes 2-3 hours. My 8 year old i start at 9am and his takes 3-4 hours. My 11 year old doesn't really need help thank god but usually does work from 9-2pm most days.

Wednesday last week i thought i had a handle on it and it went well. Although clearly not doing as much work but tried my best to catch up in the afternoon. Today my 8 year old did not want to do any work and it was a shit show the whole day.

But i also think their school is failing them big time with their lack of technology and tools they could be utilizing. So very angry about it.

Then when my husband is around to help depending on his shift, it almost makes it more stressful. He does a great job, but it's another loud voice and he doesn't understand that i need to think sometimes in order to do my job. Chat Icon Plus he gets super frustrated with the Kindergarten schedule and lack of organization (so do I) so it carries over.

There is no way to have a routine since each day is different for me and DH. The good thing is my so. Can do work independently so he will watch his math lesson and then do that. We read together since he hates it and then will do other online learning himself. We have “gym class” when we go for a bike ride.

I'm really glad that I'm not the only one in week 3 of this still without a good handle on it. I'm actually working now because I couldn't get to it today. Let's see what tomorrow brings!

I just want to give you props!! I am a SAHM and even I am struggling with homeschooling my kindergartner while chasing my toddler. I feel like someone is always getting the short end of the stick. I cannot even imagine having to work on top of everything else. I think you have to give yourself Grace. I am sure that you are doing an amazing job considering the circumstances!

We do this too. I try to keep my mornings freer so I can work with my 3rd grader on his schoolwork for an hour or two. My 5th grader works independently (5th grade is middle school in our district). The kids play on their own on computers/ipads for the rest of the day. We try to get outside later in the afternoon/after dinner when it's nice out.
