requested days off
i had requested good friday and the monday after easter off because i host easter.
clearly, that ain't happenin'
not sure if i should cancel those days off.
work is stressful because we're working like dogs. a lot of people are working 6 days. plus there was an HR issue last week and i could use time away from some of the jerkfaces.
but...
life at home is stressful. SO is not handling this crisis well. if i take the day off, he'll take the day off. i'm not sure i want to spend that many days with him at home under these conditions. i'm seriously starting to worry for his mental health and for our relationship... to think that in february i was so happy that we made it to 5 years... now, i don't know.
yes, a total first world problem. then that makes me feel crappy because i know there are millions who don't have a choice in either direction.
all i want to do is cry.

Re: requested days off
Don't feel bad for being upset. Just because your problem isn't as bad as some others, and others have it worse, doesn't mean your feelings are not valid. I'm supposed to be on a long awaited vacation right now and every single day I keep thinking about, I'm supposed to be there right now. I should be doing this right now. I should be doing that.
And god forbid I bring it up to people or vent about it, I get- oh well everyone is in the same boat. Oh, it could be worse, oh you'll get to go eventually.
Yeah I know. I know. But I would like to be allowed to be bummed. I'd like people to not try to make it better by saying all kinds of stuff like that. Maybe just some commiseration.
There will always be someone who has it worse than you. You could have a deadly illness and someone could have a deadlier one. It doesn't make it any easier for you, kwim?
As far as your days off-I'd take them. I'm sure some time away from a very crazy job would do you good- even if it means being around your SO a bit more.

She said she was SUPPOSED to be hosting Easter and that is obviously not happening now so should she still take the days off?

Re: requested days off
which would be more stressful being home or at work that is how I would decide.
If the answer is both another comprise would be take one day off and work the other day.

This is what I always say - there is someone that could always be worse off than you are so everyone is entitled to their feelings. You can apply that argument to anyone complaining at any point. Someone will always have it worse than you until you get down to that one last person on earth that truly has it the worst! lol
Anyway, I too was supposed to be taking a family vacation with my mom and my brother and our families. It was the first trip that we were ever able to coordinate with all of us and I know my mom was really looking forward to getting to spend the week with her grandchildren. It totally sucks. Yeah you don't want to complain about a vacation you can't take when others have relatives in the hospital on ventilators but it still totally sucks. It's disappointing.

I hate that we can't feel overwhelmed or depressed right now. Because someone has it worse. WE ARE ALLOWED TO FEEL HOWEVER WE WANT. We are all in this crazy, F@cked up situation and we are all allowed to stress out!
I would probably take the Friday and try to go outside (in my yard, out front or something bc I'm not going OUT), cook something (if you like to), watch a movie or read a book, spend time with your SO-- something that makes you happy and work the Monday. I'm slowly losing my mind and I think we're all forgetting self-care is super important right now.

Re: requested days off
thanks for listening and helping me feel normal in this.
i think i might take the friday and cancel the monday.
i'll use the day for some diy at-home spa-type activities.
thanks again for listening. i guess that's all i needed. i'm still teary-eyed about it all, but at peace.

Re: requested days off
We are supposed to be closed Friday & I think everyone epects we will keep working now since we are home. I am very much looking forward to my day off. Just becuse you can't go anywhere doesn't mean you can't use a break. MY DH is off today and he is watching movies inthe other rooom.
In your case, amybe your DH will be a little better if you are home? OR if you tell him you need some quiet tiem b/c of your job, maybe he won't also take the day off?

Re: requested days off
I was originally supposed to take days off around Easter as well but since everything has shifted I am no longer taking the days and instead saving them for the summer- hopefully everything will be back to normal by then.

Re: requested days off
I would see if you can take the Friday off. My husband has worked 30 days in a row. He is supposed to have off for our kids spring g break but who knows. He just got off of his busy season so he really needs the break. I think many people are in the same boat.
